With the release of Mega Man 9 yesterday on WiiWare, a new genre of downloadable games may have been established; Retro Revivals. A Retro Revival is a true sequel to an established franchise presented in its original 2D graphic format.

MyReviewPoint.com lists their top 5 franchise which would prove to deliver exceptional retro revivals for current generation of gamers to download and enjoy.
The 2D era was filled with several franchises that delivered masterpieces in 8-bit and 16-bit, so how do you narrow it down to the top 5? Its not easy, but as we continue our 2D Week celebration we examine 5 game franchises deserving of an old fashion retro revival.

    Agree with Metroid, but not Punchout.

    But Zelda definitely needs a 2D revival, in aLttP graphics. That would be EPIC!

    Me too. Punch out was fun but why does it need a retro revival when it hasn't even had a regular revival?!
