Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Review

Vito Raliffe | March 02, 2008 | Reviews | DS
This is my new review on the Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney game that was just released. The review also includes images and music from the game. Check below for my final comments, and go to the source for the full review.
All in all, if you loved the Phoenix Wright games, you’ll love this game just as well. The gameplay is essentially the same: Watch the crime through an intro, investigate the crime by interviewing characters and searching for clues, and then go to court and use your evidence and knowledge to extrapolate the truth from the person on the witness stand. Great dialogue and music help the game live up to the quality of the Phoenix Wright series, but new gameplay additions specific to the DS, and even added touches such as FMV’s (yep!!) help this game stand out so you don’t feel like it is just a rehash of the same old stuff. While the game does include characters and other surprises from the previous games, don’t expect everything to be cleared up or you’ll be disappointed as I was. Apollo Justice is its own story and an interesting one at that, and it’ll be exciting to see where it goes.

I'm glad to hear it's good, as I loved the Phoenix Wright games. I'll probably get it whenever it comes out in the UK (March 28th, I think).

Great review, Vito. I have yet to play the first of the previous series, lack of DS' around here. I may just have to order it online, bah. Can't wait to try out these games, though, the demo for Ace Attorney was fun. ^^

Just like Storm, I haven't played any of the Phoenix Wright games, but I did enjoy the Apollo Justice demo, so I'm considering getting this. I've heard quite a bit of praise for the series, and it's nice to see that they finally developed an Ace Attorney game specifically for the DS.

Going by your avatar, I'm guessing you enjoyed the game, eh, Vito? XD. So how long did it take you to beat the game?

Yeah, I am an Ace Attorney fanboy to be honest

It is hard to gauge how long it took me to beat it, which is why I didn't mention it in the review. I'm sure it was probably 20+ hours or something. They aren't exactly short.

This is a great game. I had faith in the series, so I brought it before I read any reviews. The first three were amazing games, imo.
