Konami announces Rock Revolution

Konami announced a new music rhythm game Friday called Rock Revolution, aimed at taking its own chunk of the Rock Band and Guitar popularity. It will be released on all major consoles (XBOX 360, PS3, Wii, and DS). It will include peripherals and downloadable content for the XBOX 360 and PS3, but lacks both of these in the Wii and DS versions. A short list of songs were also announced, which looks promising. It is suspected that Konami is trying to regain its former glory (DanceDanceRevolution, Beatmania) in the Music genre of video games with this move.

Rock Revolution will be the most innovative and realistic rock game to hit the market, that will provide a quality drum peripheral and music that players will appreciate, said Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. As the originator of music-based games, we are dedicated to bringing fans a truly preeminent music experience. With Rock Revolution, we put the emphasis on the drum kit, delivering an experience unlike any other.

Clarification:

Konami is NOT developing this, only publishing it. Therefore, do not consider it in their line of Bemani games. It's not in the same vein from where DDR, beatmania, etc. originate.

The tracks so far look good, minus Fall Out Boy, of course. I saw a picture of what the drums look like, and they look insanely hard. Harder than what the Guitar Hero 4 drums look like. I probably won't get this game though, unless my GH/RB guitar was compatible. In that case, I'd get it.
