Why Prototype Owns GTA IV

Games Radar is putting out Grand Theft Auto IV and sharing with everyone the ten reasons why Prototype will be better than GTA IV. Now they aren't saying GTA IV will be a bad game, just that Prototype will be a better game. Go to the source to view all the reasons, but they range from that Prototype is a new game, unlike GTA which has been around for awhile and you get to jump onto helicopters and boarding them, wiping out the pilots instead of of taking over a helicopter in GTA IV in an more orderly fashion.

We're not saying that Grand Theft Auto IV will suck. In fact, we think it’ll be one of next year’s must have titles. It's just that there's another awesome open-world action title set in New York (the real one) in the works that might make Rockstar take the backseat in 2008. The game's called Prototype, and even in its early stages of development, it looks ready to outshine GTA IV in almost every way. Yes, we're being serious.

"It's new" - that's a good reason for people to like it more but only if the game brings something new and fresh to the genre. Otherwise it won't work. On the other hand GTA already has a massive fanbase, so guess which one will be more popular...

  I agree with you completely. I see their point of a new, hip sort of game that can stretch Grand Theft Auto into a bigger than life game, add some kick ass features and name it differently and thus, giving the game a real nice feel and even though you know it's similar to another game, it feels "new". However, like you said, Grand Theft Auto has been around and is popular so it's obviously going to excite people a lot where Prototype will just get people interested.
  
  i.e. Halo 3 was obviously right off the bat given hype where say...Gears of War looked sweet when information was released on it, but people didn't exactly know what to expect and it's a new game so they weren't jumping up and down for it.

Those guys convinced me, i guess i prefer fantasy over reality too, and i never had too much fun over GTA, though i like it too.

The very fact that Prototype contains species which quite clearly aren't normal everyday things in a normal every day city tells me that GTA will be better.

  Though I think tom might be only kidding....there is no fanboyism in preferring real life over comic books. I myself prefer realism over fantasy so I'll probably like GTAIV more, but Prototype does look and sound incredibly awesome. I'm completely excited now for both and I'm sure I'll obsess over both.

I agree that Prototype looks more interesting than GTA4, but then I've always preferred fantasy over realism.

A lot of times when playing GTA I've always wondered what it would be like to have superpowers

The GTA series usually has fantastic storylines. San Andreas had one of the best I had ever seen in videogames and GTA IV seems to be following its path.

This sounds very good

the title "Prototype" seems to suggest that the main character is some sort of...well...prototype experiment or something ;; Engineered to be that way

Looks very good, but I think it will have a different feel to it (sorta like Crackdown, but better)...All the same, I hope you can still jack cars in this game...sure, it may be faster to simply well...jump over cars and buildings, but jacking a real nice car has a good feel to it too

I also hope the game looks as good, as the screens suggest

From what I've just seen and read, this game is going to blow GTAIV out of the water but who knows it could have terrible gameplay. Only time will tell...

This is rather interesting. I like the fact that this game has fantasy, but to be honest, those 10 reasons aren't really valuable at all. It's all based on opinion. I really think Prototype will be an awesome game, but not better than Grand Theft Auto IV.
