Sonic Rivals 2 Preview

SSJ3 Trunks | July 28, 2007 | Previews | Playstation Portable
Sonic Rivals gets a new sequel on the PSP. There are new levels to go through and some new enemy's to face. Some new additions with the game include: climbing ropes and scaling walls. IGN takes a look at the information we have available at the moment.
Yes, the blue hedgehog you remember from your youth is back on the PSP and set to tear through the competition in a footrace.

As a SEGA representative took us through the first level -- a jungle with plenty of catapulting springs, boxes and robotic enemies -- it was clear Backbone Entertainment took the criticism launched at the first game (i.e. "I can't stop falling off the track and dying!") to heart. As Sonic shot across the level's stone straightaway, through the throwback loops and around corkscrew walkways, he'd occasionally run into a set of spikes and fall from his perch.
However, death usually didn't await our tumbling blue guy. Instead, there were secret tunnels, alternate paths or at least way back to the surface. Once the hero was back on track, the goal was to basically run as fast as possible, dodge deadly obstacles and attack other racers when they got close enough.

Wasn't entirely interested the first Rivals game, but this doesn't look bad for the PSP. Meh...Unfortunately, Sonic games have been mediocre at best lately

I gave up after the 10 round or something like that, it just seem to have lost its edge from around 20 minuets before from when I started playing it. I wont be looking out for this.

The last good game that Sonic brought us was Sonic Rush for me. That game was one hell of a jewel. This game looks as though the flame of imagination is burning out. I hope they don't try to make a "good game" and mess it up like Sonic the Hedgehog for the Xbox 360.
