Everquest 2: The Shadow Odyssey Preview

Mishtram | November 09, 2008 | Previews | PC
IGN Vault got a chance to check out Everquest 2's upcoming expansion and the fifth expansion to come out, The Shadow Odyssey. In the preview, we are taken on a short in-game tour of some interesting areas of note to have a look around, over an in-game period of two hours for the editors.
The last two stops were The Deep Forge, home to Cruhm the Overseer, and Najena’s Hollow Tower, characterized by a transparent glass circular staircase and walkway, leading all the way down and over a lava pool.

All of the dungeons are group instances, designed to be completed within 1-2 hours and as previously mentioned, scale down to the group’s level to a minimum of level 50. In this sense, I think SOE is more in tune with the casual gamer than some of their other competitors. While it’s impossible to evaluate the actual content from a two-hour whirlwind tour, I think that in terms of aesthetics, variety, and overall enjoyability (if there were such a word), Everquest II: The Shadow Odyssey deserves a thumbs up.
