[TGS08] Dissidia: Final Fantasy (PSP) Gameplay Impressions

Dissidia: Final Fantasy has gained a fair amount of attention, partially due to its fast, Kingdom Hearts-esque battle system, but mostly due to the fact that fans will finally be able to pit their favourite Final Fantasy heroes and villians against one another.
IGN;

I also played a few rounds as Tidus, who seemed to be more suited for mid to long-ranged combat. He could summon (and then subsequently kick) a Blitzball at will and also had a powerful combo as his disposal. With the push of a button, Tidus flipped across the ground and performed a fantastic set of spins before jumping up and landing a powerful strike on his enemy.

Although I only just scratched the surface of what Dissidia has to offer, considering all the special techniques, wall running and aerial combos to be found, this is a PSP title that should not be missed.

Gamespot;

Unfortunately, the Cloud of Darkness ended our winning streak. In the temple arena, the floor broke away and we fell to the bottom, where our foe's constant stream of purple spheres and electrical attacks became tough to defend against. And like that, our time with Dissidia: Final Fantasy came to end. It's hard to say just how the final product will turn out, but we can at least say that it looks and sounds quite beautiful and dramatic, and we had fun during our short play session. We'll bring you more on this interesting game as news becomes available.

PSP Fanboy;

Battles can drag on depending on how well you keep watch on your enemy. Sometimes you may be leading and other times your opponent may start chaining you and take over. It can be a seesaw battle at times, and others can be over in a hasty minute. You really have to focus on maintaining a balance between your HP-based attacks and Brave-based attacks; do this by keeping watch over Brave points and making sure there's enough to actually do any damage and also stay out of Break status.

    The gameplay sounds great. And those FMV pictures are gorgeous. But ... is that blonde girl Terra? They didn't change her hair back to green?
