Atari and Infogames to merge in $11 million deal

Atari and Infogames are officially merging together for a cool $11 million, information on the deal being released just yesterday. Infogames will have full control of Atari when the merger is completed in the third quarter of 2008 but in return Infogames as well as the money for the purchase must also supply Atari with $20 million to cover capital requirements.
French-based publisher Infogrames today announced that it has formed a definitive pact with Atari to merge. Reached to the tune of $11 million dollars, the agreement gives Infogrames complete control over Atari.

“Bringing Atari US and Infogrames businesses together will enable us to create a simplified global structure for our business as we seek to re-build a well-managed, cohesive and financially disciplined company,” said Infogrames CEO David Gardner. “This is a key strategic event for Infogrames that will benefit all of our shareholders. I believe that this transaction will generate significant benefits for the Group,” he added.

As part of the deal, Infogrames has agreed to lend Atart $20 million in funding to cover capital requirements. The publisher expects to close and seal the merger deal in the third quarter of 2008.

I hate mergers, to be honest. In the long run, it feels like the quality of the games go down with mergers.

Aren't they Infogrames and not Infogames?
Anyway, what's the connection they already have, then? I thought they were merged already or something. *Shrugs*

They were partners. The merger itself is just a cry for attention to prove that they are still indeed on the map. It coincides with their financial loss. In any case, the majority of games either has released haven't been all that great.

And i'll never forgive them for Dragonball Z: Sagas.
