NA Wii Shop Channel Update: 09/22/08: It's Retro Revival Time - Mega Man 9 Leads the Way in a Four Game Bonanza

We all knew it was coming. Now, are you finally ready to get your retro groove on? That's right, folks: Capcom's latest game in the vaunted Mega Man series, their retro revival Mega Man 9, finally hits virtual store shelves today, with the WiiWare edition hitting the North America Wii Shop Channel today. However, this isn't the only one: it's being flanked by another WiiWare game and two Virtual Console games, giving us a rare four game update.

Leading the charge, of course, is none other than Mega Man 9. With all the news the game has received, all the hype, now we have the chance to play it. With Dr. Light framed for a robot rampage, it is up to Mega Man to jump in to save the day, clear Dr. Light's good name, and expose Dr. Wily's true intentions. Experience classic 8-bit Mega Man with all new stages, but with the same tried and true gameplay. It has been a long road for the Blue Bomber, but it will finally pay off.

The other WiiWare title is Bplus's Plattchen Twist 'n' Paint. It is a puzzle shooter hybrid, where you have to paint a series of squares to match and destroy them. Twist the Wii Remote to select your color, and fire away. With the chaos of the actual game, you can take along up to seven others for a possible eight-player multiplayer experience.

Not to be overshadowed, the first Virtual Console game is none other than Super Dodge Ball for the NES. It is a game that was a part of Technos's Kunio-kun series, with this one being received very well. Take Team USA to the top of the dodgeball world by travelling and beating the best of the best that the world has to offer. Each and every player has their own set of stats, so plan accordingly.

The other Virtual Console game is also a good game in its own right: Vectorman for the Sega Genesis. It is a 2D Action Platformer, and was a critically acclaimed at the time of its release. In a future where mankind has left Earth to migrate to other planets after leaving Earth as a polluted wasteland, mechanical "orbots" were left behind to clean up the mess. One such robot, Raster, goes insane when attached to a nuclear missile, renaming himself WarHead and declaring himself Earth's dictator. Our titular hero, Vectorman, who had been away during WarHead's conquest, now takes it on himself to dethrone him. Vectorman is able to transform into multiple different forms with the use of powerups.
