VGXPO '08 - The Cosplay Competition

PacoDG | November 25, 2008 | Pictures | Playstation 2 Nintendo 64
This past weekend I attended VGXPO in Philadelphia. One of my favorite parts wasn't on screen, but in person, people who love their games so much that they come dressed up as them. The prize in this competition... bragging rights (I wish I was kidding).
So we walked from canceled event to canceled event all three days of the VGXPO. Finally however, something actually happened, The Cosplay Competition. There was some crap (isn't there always?), but we also saw some amazing costumes. Steve Kurtz from Cruisin' 92.1 FM MC'ed the event, and the judges were wrestler and geek Eric "The Smoke" Moran; Kevin, Joey, and Eric from the web series Fighters High; and comic book artist Ashley Woods. Pictures are being posted below and video of each person taking the stage and how they were judged will be coming very soon, this is just the first of quite a few VGXPO posts, so keep checking back.

The Majora's Mask one is absolutely phenomenal. And equal parts weird. Haha.

I think I wrote it on the site, but I was going to take a picture of just the mask, but his shirt and big belly was too amusing to not just take a full on regular shot.

Most of those really failed to impress me, though the group ones for some reason seemed grades better than the others. Loved the one right at the bottom.
