Real World Skills Learned by Video Gaming

Deathsythe | October 20, 2008 | Pictures | PC Playstation 2
Leave it to the guys over at SomethingAwful to find legitimate learning excercises in non-educcational video games.

On a recent installment of Photoshop Phriday the goons modified the box art in some of their favourite games to highlight the "valuable real world skills they learned"

Check out all of the images after the jump.
We all know that video games make for really awesome murder simulators and serial killer training programs. That's why we love them so much. But what if you could learn other skills from them that didn't involve shooting people with guns? I know, it sounds absurd, but that's exactly the question the Something Awful Forum Goons attempted to answer this week. They took their favorite games and edited them slightly to show off all those valuable real world skills they learned. Who know video games were so gosh darn instructional?

    Just close?

I legitimately laughed out loud at several of them...

Well maybe not laughed, but at least chuckled.

The RE4 one, and SH4 ones both are pretty amusing.

How about, learning how to pull people out of upside down cars, because the might set of fire. Like that girl did in an article a while back?

The guy would saved a man's life after a car accident with the CPR he learned from America's Army comes to mind as well. That was brought up a couple of times, too.

In order to make an omelet, you have to break a few eggs.
For the good of the populous.
      The ends justify the means.

There is nothing wrong with sentencing some of those poor little lemmings to their death in order to save the rest of them.

Never said there was, I just didn't expect anyone to use a lemmings photo, at least not on something like this.
