Fallout from the Duke Nukem Release Date Incident

Deathman48 | February 17, 2008 | Other | PC
The Dallas Business Journal has responded to the incident about the "off the record" information they published about Duke Nukem Forever. In addition they've uploaded an audio file of the interview with Scott Miller to back up their side of the argument, located here.
I suppose we're used to dealing with gaming press and not mainstream press," Broussard wrote on Feb 6. "Lesson learned." He went on to say that the "Duke Nukem Forever" release date is still "when it's done," and "we apologize to gamers and Web sites everywhere for this series of events. Sometimes, you can be too trusting of people and assume things that come back to bite you. Lesson learned.

Wasn't the last article about this said the same thing, or was this more of confirmation?

Anyway i hope they polish up the game rather then trying to rush it. And pick a good month or time to release it, Cause you don't want to release it at the same time as something like FF13 or something as big at that title.

The last article was about 3D Realms more or less attacking DBJ about it, this is their response.

One thing I found interesting was the section near the end about the article generating a lot of press for the website, seems rather stuck up to me to say "we got lots of attention because of this story".

Yeah i don't get why they would like the attention if it was inaccurate. Unless they thought it was helping the hype of the game? Who knows really.

Whatever the case, I don't predict we will actually see the game being released in our lifetimes.

Indeed every year there's a story it's about to come out, but when this has happened year after year you start to not care any more

The game isn't coming out. I think everyone should just stop caring. I doubt 3DRealms are so incompetent that it takes over a decade to create a FPS of all things. I could see if it was some epic 300+ hour RPG or something, but an FPS? You have to be joking.
