Pirates Selling GameCube Titles As Wii Games

Krunal | August 06, 2007 | Other | Wii Gamecube Misc
Pirates, arent just selling GameCube games, they are re-releasing the games as Wii titles, and this includes a Wii-look-a-like covers for the box scans, however the controlls for the games work in very much the same way as the GameCube counterparts.

Included in the list of pirated games are: The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Tony Hawk Underground 2, Resident Evil 0 & The Legend of Zelda: Collectors Edition. However that's not all. Who says that Metroid 3 hasn't been released yet? Definitely not the sales lady that tried to pass of Metroid Prime: Echoes as the new Metroid game, and have you been keeping up with the rumours about MGS4 for the XBOX360? Well whether they're true or not, the sales lady sure thought that Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes was actally MGS4 for the Wii.

Take a look at the boxscans yourself...

    Now this is just idiotic.

I hope a stop will be put to these pirates... just shameful imo.

Wow, although I condone this activity I do find it quite amazing, they have done good job of making them boxscan shots believeable and plenty of people (such as my mum) wouldn't no the difference. Smart but baaaad.

THUG 2 as a Wii game? Wow. At least use a newer Tony Hawk's game, such as American Wasteland. People are such idiots. Also, why does the Zelda: Collector's Edition cover still have the GCN and the Wii logo? Are they that stupid, or was it meant to be made that way?

Those actually look pretty convincing. Someone who didn't know a lot of older Gamecube titles might have actually purchased one. That pirate would pretty smart.

Hell, a load of people would fall for that. Consider the most predominant demographic of Wii players is fairly young; they and their parents wouldn't be able to tell what the difference was until they came to play the game with their Wiimote.

Those are some damned convincing-looking boxarts. The parents wouldn't really know for the most part, unless the kids had had a GC themselves.

Going for MGS and RE might be silly though, because a lot of the people who'd buy them may have seen the GC ones and know that it was a load of BS. And lol at using TH Underground 2 instead of American Wasteland.

Youd have to be REALLY uneducated, video game-wise to not know this obvious rip off.

These are pretty damn sweet, haha.

I mean who cares if they're not actual wii titles? You're probably still paying way less than you would be if you were buying the GCN version anyway.

I'm sure that if my parents were shopping for a christmas or birthday present for me, that they would be fooled by those.

That is why I give them a list of the games I want.
