EU Wii Virtual Console: 05/30/08: It's a Burning Puzzle League Shodown

Akira_EX | May 31, 2008 | Other | Wii
One week removed from WiiWare Launching in Europe, the PAL region continues to get some love from Nintendo of Europe. Three games were added today to the Virtual Console, and it's a pretty diverse list too.

The first game up in this set is Samurai Shodown, the first game in SNK's fighting game series. The series is regarded as one of the top-tier fighting game franchises, with this game and its sequel, Samurai Shodown II receiving high praise from gamers and critics alike.

This week's set also includes another Neo Geo game: Burning Fight, developed by SNK. The game is a beat-em-up, but is largely derivative of the more successful Final Fight and Streets of Rage series, developed by Capcom and Sega, respectively.

The last game on the docket is Pokémon Puzzle League, a game based on the popular Panel de Pon/Tetris Attack series of block-matching puzzle games. The game is considered one of the more solid implementations of Panel de Pon, and the Pokémon license allows it to flourish. It also was the first Pokémon game to be developed for anyplace other than Japan first, and curiously, was never released in Japan.

Recap:
  • NEOGEO: Samurai Shodown, 1-2 Players, 900 Points
  • NEOGEO: Burning Fight, 1-2 Players, 900 Points
  • N64: Pokémon Puzzle League, 1-2 Players, 1000 Points

Hell, the only good SNK games are the Metal Slug series. The Metal Slug ports for the PSP were just frickin' sweet. It's just unadulterated fun.

The only good SNK games are the Metal Slug games?

        I disagree.
