Castlevania movie pressing forward with new budget

Euphoric | May 22, 2008 | News | PC Playstation 2
A new 200 million dollar budget has been announced for the planned Castlevania movie. Given the outcome of most video game to film adaptations the reasonable size of the budget seems the only source of hope for this flick.

One thing though, Please keep Uwe Boll away.
Tekken and Castlevania movie production company Crystal Sky Pictures has secured $200 million dollars in financing money, in part to green light a Castlevania movie.

According to Variety, the movie will be written by Paul 'Resident Evil' Anderson and directed by Sylvain White. Who made 'I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer.' Nice to see Crystal Sky is investing its money wisely, there.

Crystal Sky Pictures is also responsible for the new Tekken movie, which we posted costume photos from yesterday.

Other titles to be produced with the money is a sequel to John Woo's excellent action movie 'Hard Boiled,' which last year's game Stranglehold was also a sequel to. No word yet if the movie will be based on the game.

Oh, and a big screen adaptation of Pac-Man. That wasn't a joke, by the way.

Way to set your standards incredibly low. Paul Anderson sucks, and you know it. AVP 1, and RE 1-2 (and 3, but he didn't direct that one) were shit too. Eye candy, no substance, and had very very very very very very little to do with RE.

BECAUSE EVERYBODY KNOWS TYRANT TOTALLY CHARGED HIS LAZAH IN RE1. (game)

Oh, and by the way- Anderson likely isn't on the project. He was booted out a while ago - but the source likely mistook the working script, which was based off of PWS's work, to be Anderson still being in the writer's chair.

His shitty WWII themed script is likely going to be changed to hell and back, better or worse. In any case, it's just a working script. It's easily ejectable, and Anderson can once again find his name off the project.

Pssh, you know Resident Evil is all about chicks with guns and kicking ass, scary looking zombies are optional (If not, we'll rip off Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead zombies which were originally ripped off from Boyle's 28 Days Later Infected)...and with special effects, people won't give a shit (and this is actually true).

That being said, the director of the movie ain't exactly a shining example either. I'd rather not look into this much, if at all, unless there's someone in the movie business that has a gist about Castlevania's general storyline and knows how to capture the gothic/Dracula theme and whatnot...I'll give this one a miss.

One question. Is it live action or animated?

      The poster does look good.
