Pokémon masters, Japan vs. US: FIGHT!

chautemoc | May 18, 2008 | News | DS
Pokémon USA just announced the Pokémon Hoedown, er, Showdown, which will pit the best Japanese and American Diamond and Pearl players against in each in a battle of ultimate skill.

The qualifier events begin July 12 and 19 in Los Angeles and New York, respectively, while the finals are scheduled for an Orlando, Florida date on August 16. To obtain entrance to the qualifier events, willing participants must first complete a quiz at the official site.
"Pokémon strives to create fun products and events for players of all skill levels and interests," said J.C. Smith, director of marketing for Pokémon USA, Inc.

"The Pokémon Video Game Showdown provides the most skilled Pokémon players an opportunity to determine who is truly the best."

Heh that's actually a pretty cool idea.

I just hope that the last move isn't something utterly stupid. GO Magikarp level 5! Use splash! No effect, Mewtwo faints from an epic amount of laughing at the Magikarp and it's splash. The WINNER IS "Douche" ans his level 5 Magikarp!

I have to agree that this is pretty cool. I mean, an international Pokemon tournament.

Does this mean that someone will be crowned Pokemon champion of the world? lol

Are you kidding? Japan have this won from the start, I mean there are pokemon players over there who map out in what area there going to get a pokemon, what moves there going to teach it, when there going to evolve it, when there going to give it rare candies, when there going to give it stat boosters and when there going to breed it to make a even more god like pokemon. All before they even start the game!

Few US players can match that

Well it is Japan vs US...I'm pretty sure that isn't Europe and Australia. No doubt Europe and Aus won't get anything like this.
