GTA IV DLC for PS3 'not possible'

chautemoc | May 16, 2008 | News | Playstation 3 XBOX 360
Director of product management for Xbox 360 and Xbox Live Aaron Greenberg says the DLC for GTA IV on Microsoft's console is 'not possible' for the PlayStation 3 as far as he's aware. This doesn't exactly rule it out though:

"Rockstar and Xbox have only said there are exclusive episodes coming this fall to Xbox 360, [said Greenberg]. "I might put that up for a bit of wishful thinking on their end."
By 'them', of course, he is referring Sony. More specifically he's referring to David Reeves, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

When Reeves was asked, "Is it damaging to Sony and PlayStation that there is no DLC for GTA IV on PS3?", he responded, "Well I think you probably will see it, it's just that a deal obviously was struck between Microsoft and Take 2 to do that. And if that's what they want to do, I think that's the last shot they have."

Probed further, Reeves became evasive, saying, "I'm honestly not going to make any comment on that because it's too big a thing to... we can make an announcement when we make an announcement." He also said, "e-mail Rockstar, ask them what's coming".

Look, GTA IV DLC IS perfectly possible on the PS3, it is just the exclusive 'Episodic' content that they can't get.

I seriously doubt Rockstar would ignore the PS3 entirely for DLC, since about 45% of the sales were for the PS3 version, that is a pretty big market for DLC....

Dang, that much of a difference?

Still, 35% is a LOT of copies....And since it won't be exclusive, both the PS3 and 360 would get it, so it wouldn't be like they're developing the content exclusively for the PS3....

Obviously the DLC the 360 is getting won't come to the PS3, but that doesn't include anything else.

Although TT they could have exclusive content that the 360 won't be getting.
Although that that would or could only happen if they pay R* for it.

Actually if i remember rightly the same thing happened to the PS3 about Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, the PS3 didn't have enough RAM to load these huge expansions that were coming for it, some that added massive new areas to the game world... I say it doesn't have enough RAM because the XMB takes up about 20% of the RAM straight away and thats only gonna get larger if people want in-game XMB.

If the PS3 is gonna get content it will be stuff like new cars or new pedestrians, which will probably be as pointless a Horse Armor for Oblivion considering how large the game is and all the cars that are "apparently" in GTA IV i certainly haven't driven them all yet...

All of you with a 360 will notice this you go to Oblivion downloads and you have everything, Horse Armor, Shivering Isles, Knights of The Nine, The Orery and more... The PS3 has no DLC for that game, anyone that wants the DLC has to buy the Game of the Year edition and i still don't think that includes everything...

Actually the PS3 does have the shivering isles on the Playstation store, Knights of the Nine also came installed with every copy of the game. And all the other expansions offered very little in terms of game areas so I doubt that was problem with Obilvion, I think it was more out of laziness than the PS3's RAM unable to take it.

Actually all of the other dlc's was very fun and did add alot of things to the game.

I love going to my little wizzards castle were I can lay down my staff and enchant my crap. It would not be the same without it.

Plus I have the warriors castle(comes included with guards and a controlable gate!(l33t or what) It has secret rooms too.)

Flash back through the firmware updates, they eventually decided to address the memory footprint by the OS by taking a revision to the software. =/ helps to know about your console before just saying the third party developer was lazy.

If you're going to slam anyone, slam the team behind the original firmware since it was well known that the memory footprint was huge to start with.

Not possible? Why? Ah, of course! It's not possible to turn down 50 million bucks.
Well, PS3 owners, learn live with what you have. After all, it still must be quite an amazing experience,

The PS3 version gets warner graphics, while the 360 version gets DLC... What is the best choice?
