Toys "R" Us upsets customers by pretending to have Wii's in stock

xsynergyx | May 04, 2008 | News | Wii Company
A guy named Nick was hunting for Nintendo Wii's on the internet and was excited when Toys "R" Us had them 'in-stock'. So, of course, he ordered one, anticipating to receive it soon. Shortly after, he received an e-mail telling him that there was an error and that the systems were on back order and that there was an 'unexpected shipping delay', yet they were still labeled as 'in-stock'. Lying is bad and Nick sure hates it.
I was rather annoyed that this was the case, but understand that sometimes these things can happen. But then I checked the Toys'R'Us website, and the item was still being listed as available. I took a screencapture of this at 1:10pm. While I am personally disappointed that my item is on backorder, I am even more disappointed that Toys'R'Us continued to claim that they were available, even though they clearly were not at that point.

What the hell? Everyone makes mistakes, jeez. It's probably a glitch in their stock control system or something. This guy's blowing it completely out of proportion.

They probably didn't try to hide anything, the website likely wasn't updated. It isn't anything to get ruffled about

True but you would think they would update their site though, it seems bad on there part.
However he's still getting it though, since he pre-ordered it.

God, that would really piss me off. He thinks he's going to get one, and they tell him there was a mistake and he can't get one. I'd be so pissed.

LOL Really now? That would be grounds for a lawsuit or at least some petty cursing.

    That's pretty unfortunate.

Seriously, something like that could easily be thrown out as caused by "computer glitch."

He isn't blowing anything out of proportions, simply stating his opinion on the matter and hoping that others don't fall for the same thing he did, it was bait and switch with no replacement
