Rockstar: "No comment" on GTA IV PC reports

Twisted | April 30, 2008 | News | PC Playstation 3
When asked, Rockstar hasn't said anything about releasing a Grand Theft Auto IV on the PC towards the end of the year. It took Grand Theft Auto III 6-8 months to release onto the PC, so lets hope that it will release on the PC eventually.
Rockstar has said "no comment" in response to reports that a PC version of GTA IV will release toward the end of the year.

In January we reported that French retailers had been cited as the source for an October 2008 release for the sequel on PC, and yesterday German e-tailer City Disc had a PC version down for November.

City Disc has now amended its listing to give an October 30, 2008 release, and translated accompanying text now apparently reads: "The release date for GTA 4 for PC has not yet been confirmed by the Publisher, Take 2. The release date is not guaranteed and is open to change."

(Thanks to Evo Gamer for the tip off and the translation).

As we pointed out before, it took GTA III and its sequels around six to eight months to make the leap to the mouse and keyboard crowd, so a late 2008 release for GTA IV on PC would be in keeping with tradition. But it doesn't officially exist. Yet.

The only reason I can think of Rockstar not wanting to talk about the PC version is to make sure they push out as many copies of the console versions as they can without disrupting sales. I'm sure a PC version will come soon enough.

Yeah. Plus "no comment" always means that they are at least in talks about it.

Agreed. If it was in the works or at least thought about, they'd probably say something like "We're discussing it" unless it's truly that classified.

I say that they haven't thought about it yet.

It's probably not going to happen at the end of the year, but every major GTA game has had a PC release, albeit a good deal after the console releases.

Wonder what kind of a graphics card GTA IV would need.
I probably won't be able to play it that way either.

Wonder whether a "GTA IV Stories" would come out.

I wouldn't be surprised if they don't release a PC version this time around. I mean they did everything to make the console games be awesome as it is. But again this doesn't mean anything though.

I hope that they release a PC version. I don't own a PS2, PS3, XBox, Wii, or anything but a PC to play games on; so I would miss out on this game if it were never released for the PC.
