Ghostbusters Held Back... By The XBOX360

Krunal | April 28, 2008 | News | Playstation 3 XBOX 360
In what could possibly considered a developers first... a game has actually been held back production-wise by the XBOX360. Usually the lead console for any multiplatform games, the XBOX360 version has taken the backseat to the PS3 version. Sierra Spring Break 08 tells us how the Playstation 3 version would have benefited had the game have been exclusive indicating more objects on screen as a serious possibility...
VG247: Why choose to lead on the PS3?

Mark Randell : Very simple reason: Ghostbusters is the property of Sony Pictures.

VG247: Right. But the game will be coming out on the 360, it’s a simultaneous release. Did Sony insist it was lead?

MR: Personally, I want to show off our PS3 technology. We’re one of the few developers who love the PS3 and have a great time with it. We have great technology for the PS3 and we want to show it off.

VG247: Isn’t it the same for the 360?

MR: We’re running the same game for both platforms but if we made a PS3-only game, for example, you could double the amount of objects on screen that you’re seeing. The PlayStation 3 has seven processors and the 360 only has three, so seven versus three means you can do a lot more on the PS3. We’re keeping the game the same over both platforms so we don’t want to take out any features.

Wait if this is property of Sony pictures then why are they making a 360 version? Its essentially their game, which means instant exclusive. Now im not trying to cause any trouble but its plain as day from his response.

This is the funny part about consoles and there manufacturers, just like spider man and now with ghostbusters, Sony is still the winner in the end. lol Cause say it sells better on the 360 sony stil gets paid royalties for its property. lol So in the end when a movie property becomes a game like this its a win win for sony. This is just more evidence that there is no console war. Cause if there was niether would want to work with the other. No matter which console wins, this is prof that money is the answer not the war.

Hey guise, I got a great idea. Let's take property we own, make a game that nobody will care about based on it for our console, showcasing how kickass we think it is, and then let's totally port it over to a competitor's console and make it look like SHIT.

This is probably the only time I'll ever agree. This is some bad PR bullshit and PS3 french-kissing if I've ever seen one. Sounds like something Peter Dille would say.
