Religious leaders attack video games

xsynergyx | April 25, 2008 | News | Misc
Religious leaders from Saudi Arabia have sent a newsletter to all imams in the country, warning them of the 'dangers' that could result in video games. More things on the newsletter note that it teaches wrong things to children and gives them mental problems. They have also labeled kids that get video games to be 'victims'.
According to the Arab TV network al-Arabiya, Saudi Arabia's minister of Islamic affairs has sent a newsletter to all imams in the country, warning about the 'dangers' that could result from using the popular Playstation video game.

Imams will have to ask parents to be more attentive with regard to their children's education and urged them to supervise them, so they do not become "victims" of these games.

A popular Playstation game? Wonder what's got them so worried?

If I happened to live in Saudi Arabia, was a parent, and actually gave a shit what religious leaders have to say about anything. I'd at least like to know which game it is...

I don't know if you're being sarcastic, but I think they're just talking about the PlayStation, period. And if you were a parent in Saudi Arabia, you would more than likely care very much about what religious leaders have to say.

That's what I was thinking. I find it hard to listen to anyone's opinion in which they refer to a console as a game. It's like calling LAX an airplane...

I was being sarcastic, btw. I meant that if I were a parent, and happened to live in Saudi Arabia(who knows why) I'd at least like some details. In doing so I decided to inject my belief that believing in a higher power does not, to me, make your opinion any more relevant.

Hahaha, this is golden. Not only are people using games as a scapegoat in North America, so are our "enemies" in the East.

This is hilarious, this gives me a reason to laugh my head off. I find it funny how people can always point there finger at video games to blame everything on when i bet that he hasn't even played a single video game in his time.

Lol religion. Although considering the types of governments that rule over that area, it's hardly a surprise.
