Splatterhouse makes its horrific return

chautemoc | April 23, 2008 | News | Misc
Remember Splatterhouse? Oh yeah, honey. Possibly the first of its kind, this was a truly grotesque masterpiece. In fact, I take back what I said about Altered Beast, Splatterhouse 3 was very much in the same vein, and is just as worthy of praise. Anyway, Namco Bandai (Namco being the original developer) is resurrecting the series with a next-gen overhaul. Just thinking of the brilliant horror this game could accomplish on a system these days is absolutely divine.
Splatterhouse is arguably the first survival horror game ever. Sure, it was a bit heavy on the horror and light on the survival, but it's hard to come up with an earlier example of a game with as much bloodshed and terror as this arcade beat-em-up. Purveyors of violence and filth that we videogame folk are, we couldn't be more excited to present the exclusive reveal of Namco Bandai's next-gen resurrection of the Splatterhouse franchise in the upcoming June issue of EGM.
