Europe: PS3 Grand Theft Auto IV Bundle Confirmed By Sony

tidus04 | April 23, 2008 | News | Playstation 3 Company
As previously speculated by Swedish retailer, Webhalen that a Playstation 3 Grand Theft Auto 4 Bundle was on the way. Well Sony Computer Entertainment Europe today have come out and confirmed that there will be one and it is going to be priced at 439 (£353, $700). The bundle is going to consist of a Playstation 3 40GB model, a SIXAXIS wireless controller and a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV and is said to save consumers a small but better then nothing 25 (£20, $40).

This however as it has only been confirmed by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe means this particular offer is only destined to Europe.

Dam, your right. Though going by the RRP they are lowing it by own decision.

The Sixaxis will be kinda of a letdown for Europeans I presume but nice to see its confirmed. I think its a matter of time before this bundle reaches North America.

And I think the MGS4 bundle is better and because it has the 80GB but thats just me. @_@

Sony don't give two shits about Europe. The 40GB is the only model available in Europe.

We'll be paying more for this bundle (GTAIV + 40GB) than Americans will be paying for the MGS4 bundle.

I don't think Sony is the blame though. I think it has more to do with the European economy and tax tarrifs. I mean why would Sony have a beef with Europe. One of their biggest supporters no less. Doesn't make sense. And believe me, there are way too many countries to list where the PS3's are around $1000. So in a way, Europeans and North Americans are blessed.

It was Sony's decision to discontinue the 60GB. That's my main gripe. Because of them discontinuing it I ended up paying £385 for my 60GB.

The fact we pay so much over the odds is not exclusive to Sony. Microsoft and Nintendo do it too. As do Apple, Toshiba, Samsung and LG. But because Sony's competitors (in gaming and in general) do it doesn't absolve them.

          I dunno, 5 or 6 months I think.

Not enough time for enough good games to come out to make a purchase worthwhile.

Doesn't matter now, does it? Whether you want to admit it or not, you can't complain now since you voluntarily decided not to buy it anyways.

Fact is you get what you ask for, and everyone wanted a price cut, and you get get the 40GB version.

This isn't Sony's fault its every other person out there who wanted a cheaper system, they gave it to you and your(in general)still complaining.

          There's no pleasing anyone.

Sorry, but it does still matter. I had to pay over the odds because Sony did not release as good a version of the PS3 over here. We got no 80GB and the 60GB we got had PS2 software emulation.

And Final Blade you can stop with the vast, stupid, generalisations. There are approximately 700,000,000 people living in Europe. Because 699,999,999 thought the PS3 was due a price cut doesn't mean I did. I would've been more than happy to pay the price of a 60GB (*bleep*, I just did, didn't I?).

Sony need to realise PS3 sales were not doing poorly because the 60GB was too expensive, they were doing poorly because there wasn't enough good games out.

You were still given the option, whether the games fit your tastes or not didn't matter at all. And you have to understand that while you would've been glad to pay the full price for a 60 GB, there's a lot more people willing to pay for a slightly inferior but cheaper PS3...and business logic says that you please the majority.

It doesn't matter Donnelly, the fact is everyone cried for a price-cut and they gave it to you and you got what you asked for. To think it was possible to cheapen the price of the 60GB to where it is now its absurd. I bought the version cause i knew it was the better choice, you chose to wait to buy the better system based off games you deemed inferior, and it back fired. So i agree with Seeker here again.

Man, I sure do hope they open and bundle over here in North America. I would do anything for one of those!

Hopefully they'll do the bundle down here in Aus.
