Microsoft trashes the PS3 version of GTA IV!
Microsoft reported they will be supporting the launch of GTA IV like they did with Halo. However, they also have been reported trash talking about all the things you can be doing with your time while waiting to install the PS3 version of the game. I think Microsoft has taken this rivalry to the next level, but read the article quote below and share your views on this.
While Microsoft UK said last week that it was supporting the launch of GTA IV like it was Halo 3, it has also sent out a mail taking the piss out of the reported mandatory five-minute install time on the PlayStation 3 version.

Sadly, one of theirs actually did just get the Red Ring of Death. I am a little worried myself since it has already happened once. Now would be the worst time ever.
Though non of this will sway which console I buy it on. The 360 let me down when I owned it so I know I wont be getting it back anytime soon.
The profit won't come alone from the DLC. People who buy the 360 version over the PS3's is also a factor.
Microsoft can also use this to draw in more fans: "We're willing to pay $50 million+ to get you some juicy content, aren't we nice?" I doubt it'll be $30 for a piece of content, though...
Anyway 5 minutes is really nothing.
HD space is another. I'd really rather not spare space for a game that should just play...Even if it decreases load times by a bit.
Most 360 fans aren't that nervous. It's just the douchebags that don't even own 360's going "OMG I cudnt play a game because Id be too busy praying lol I'm a comic genius!"

It's not as if I've had two friends who've had 360's crap out on them, and as a result have sold them and got a PS3. And Microsoft is owned by Bill Gates. He payed (is paying) over 50 million for this exclusive DLC, but I'm sure he'll sell it at a reasonable price
And I never said loading times were drastically different. Overall, around 10 seconds, yes? So, hypothetically, imagine overall lifetime playing the game and hitting 1000 loading screens. Thats 10000 seconds extra loading time. Compared to a meer five minutes (300 seconds) that's a lot. Well, average 2.8 hours. But that's a lot more than five minutes so the point stands.
A reasonable price? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it up to us to actually purchase it? To me, it'll be worth it, and to me, Bill Gates isn't an idiot...he won't over-price the content so that people DON'T get it. Come on.
Loading times, it's not that big a difference/margin. Who cares if PS3 only has a 5-minute install, and who cares if the loading time is a millisecond longer for the 360...seriously?
Tekken is getting more quicker paced, and is even getting into more juggling from what I see in Tekken 6 videos, bit like DoA. xD Tekken is better in terms of gameplay to me, but people prefer DoA's quicker style.
But like you touched on, it is about personal preference, Art of War. We should all just hold hands and sing 'Why can't we be friends?' xD This is getting too out of hand.

Besides, Tekken will be released in the Autumn (Fall)
Although it's not officially confirmed it has already hit the arcades and the creators want it to console ASAP, which will take until Autumn (Fall) The only reason there is no official release date is because the creators are worried there may be a mass problem and don't want to have to push it because that may upset fans. Besides, even if Tekken isn't out than, there's still MK vs. DC which (albeit not an exclusive) will hold me over until T6
And I know people will go for the bigger guns, like MGS4 and such. I will be also. The reason I mentioned Tekken 6 and FF is because (as has already been established) Oh, and (not to speak for her or anything) but I think what Taow meant about DOA is that by now it is a complete farce, made for old horny japanese men and young horny american teens. It's more of a hentai game than a fighting one at this point.
As for MS's trash talking, PS3 owners might have to wait 5 minutes to play their game, but at least you're not going to hear any PS3 owners say "OMG MY CONSOLE DIED WHILE I WAS PLAYING GTA IV!"
I just hope my console doesn't die any time soon, I want to play GTA IV and Battlefield.
Also the time of the install will tell you how much space it takes up, for instance 20 minute install = 5GB, 5 minutes install = 1GB. If anyone wants to know how i came up with it, well 5 x 4 = 20 right. 20/4 = 5 minutes. Than i just subtract 4 to the 5 and i get 1GB.
It sounds logical, and thats why i see this not being an issue.
Anyway i have to agree here, its one thing to gloat having something someone else doesn't, but then to bash another version of the game which is virtually the same thing as yours, besides the DLC, is immature.
Forget the load times, that's not a big a deal, the article mentions it, but we aren't arguing that, you're the ones bringing it up...And what do you mean by making sure that the XBL servers run smoothly?...More worry to the free internet service a la PSN.
Either way, the Microsoft official has a very good point, 5 minutes of download is obviously forever and all PS3 GTA IV owners should get ready for some painful and agonizing torture installation time...

The DMC install time was like nothing, i went to take a shower and bam its finished. This one will be nothing.
I love how people are over-exaggerating the install time for GTA4 on PS3.
If 360 had a HD = Harddrive standard, they would be doing the same thing with the 360 version.
Also storm, i will be honest i just didn't like LMC rants on here, all he does is cause trouble in articles like this, and the fanboys come to praise him. But when people make strong points we get thumbs down, figures.

I don't think it was BS you and every other person seems to think so. I actually understand why they did it, they want us to enjoy seemless and Load-timeless gameplay. Like i stated before 360 version would have had the same installation, but it was left out due to 360 not having a Harddrive standard, and the Core users will suffer. Same for GTA4. Its no surprise.

I already know the 360 is the superior version, but i don't personally care for the DLC. My whole point is Why should they even jab at Sony's Installation time, when they should be thinking "Oh shit, if we had a Harddrive standard, we would too get an installation force, that actually benefits the player cause they will get Seemless, and Load-timeless gameplay".
Whether or not its 30s faster its still benefits the players. I don't give a shit about the installation, as long as it helps the system and makes gameplay that much better for me, then why should anyone get pissed. DMC and GTA are big titles, it doesn't matter how huge the game is, i want my gameplay to have no interruptions, if it helps even 30s quicker than i'll take it.

If this article was: 'Sony trashes the 360 version of GTA IV!' Sony fans would go ballistic and join in on the fray. There's so much games this generation that i want to focus on buying them, rather than buying DLC to continue the Story with missions.
I hope it is good, i have friends waiting to play the 360 version and playing the DLC. And i would love to check it out at their house. But other than that the DLC isn't a problem and i couldn't really careless about it to be honest.
Slumpy Your right they're competition but even then, i would think them knowing they do have the better version wouldn't feel the need to bash another version of the game.

The Oblivion is a different story seeming how its a big RPG to begin with, I expect RPG games to be that huge. A action/shooter Sandbox Title shouldn't be that massive where it literally takes forever to complete that includes DLC, where the game alone can rack up to 120 hours already. Tell me why i should buy another version and console to play this, when i already payed my PS3 version??
It's one thing not going and doing all the paramedic missions. Or putting out fires for 3 hours to get them all down. It's quite another to not finish the story...which I'm assuming the DLC will add too. It probably will be more like a side story...but I can't imagine it not being missions.
Which means i don't want something to increase the amount of time i either finish the main story or 100% the game. Is it that hard to understand me? Damn its like talking to brick walls.
And yes i did finish the story on all GTA games. But i couldn't get 100% cause of the massive pile of stuff on SA. I got close on VC and GTA3.

From the way I see it, both versions of GTA IV have their strong points and weak points. Not that it matters to me, anyway. I haven't got either of these.
It's one freakin' game. Isn't it Take-Two and Rockstar that ends up with the most money bags anyway, I don't know, for making and publishing the game?
