PlayStation Home Open Beta to arrive fall of 2008

Just off the press wire. Sony PlayStation Home Open Beta is arriving in late 2008.

Why so long you might ask? Well, Sony wants to make sure that Home is completely redefined to meet up to the companies standards. Hopefully meaning a better experience for us.

Not much else was said but Sony says that the expansion registration, as well as testing mechanics and features, will be announced in the near future.

So gear up, because upon the completion of this expanded Closed Beta, the Open Beta will start. The online testing experience begins fall of 2008.

Guess what? Looks like the Open Beta of Sony's long-awaited PlayStation Home is arriving in late 2008. The official announcement just came in over press wire, where Sony Computer Entertainment claimed that the ongoing Closed Beta test was to be "expanded" by an undisclosed number of users. They say that upon the completion of this expanded Closed Beta, the Open Beta will start. The online testing experience begins fall of 2008.

Why so long? According to Sony's top brass, Kazuo Hirai, the extension to the later half of 2008 was required to ensure that the Home experience is completely refined to the standards of the company. The expansion of the user base in the Closed Beta, as well as the extension of its program to late summer, shows just how much work Sony's putting into the polishing process.

While not other details were immediately divulged, Sony says that the expansion registration, as well as testing mechanics and features, will be announced in the near future. More updates on this as we get them.

  Well if the open beta hits this fall I'd consider it hitting. I mean, I have a feeling this is going to be a pretty full featured beta. Open betas usually tend to be. This is just going to be a testing phase for Sony to where they can have excuses when Home doesn't perform or work as well as it should. Sony can say, well it's still in Beta.

Just as I predicted. No seriously, I've been saying it in quite a few 'Home' articles earlier this year and last...won't get our hands on it until Fall 2008. :S

Not a big set back, the more time spent on it, the better for us (usually).

Meh, they could just release it NOW, and update it as they go (which they're going to do anyway)....

Dragging it out this long does NOT increase anticipation -_-

I have so many curse words gathering in my mind it's not even funny. I can't count on one hand how many delays the PS3 has been getting, it makes me sick...

No other option than to just wait...even LONGER. How many games for PS3 have been delayed? Haze was supposed to be out in November last year, MGS4 was also due out last year, Home was supposed to be out by now...

NOOOO! Dammit, It a damn beta it doesn't have to be perfect, why do you have to wait for everything to be perfect to release a beta! Thats why its a beta, to see what the problems are!!!
