Will The XBOX360 Be Able To Handle GTA4?

That's the question asked by GamePlayer, with GTAIV just over a week away, the question springs to mind - Will GTAIV cause the XBOX360's of many fans to show the dreaded Red Rings of Death? You could argue that it certainly didn't break with Halo 3, so it's unlikely to break with GTAIV, however, likewise it can also be argued, that GTAIV is certainly a longer game which will take an approximate 100 hours to do the core missions, and that coupled with side-quests and a multiplayer mode, could make this the longest GTA to date.

Personally, I do expect a couple XBOX360's to break over heating issues, especially of those lucky enough to have a launch console that has caused no problems (if there is anyone like that), however I also think that the downloadable content will most likely outweigh this negative.
Regardless of where you sit in the console war, the dreaded Red Ring of Death (or RRoD) is an undeniable thorn in Microsoft’s side. We’ll probably never know just how nasty this gaming plague has been but local retailers have been claiming a return rate as high as 30% on the Xbox 360s they’ve sold. Certainly our office, and forums, are filled with victims cursing their luck: with a disturbingly high number of individuals enduring the sudden bricking of their machine on more than one occasion.

    Wtf? Of course it can handle it.

    Also games don't really make RROD. There was an achievement on dead rising to leave your console on for 12-hours and alot of peepz have it. Soooo I duno.

    What a pitiful article. Created to do nothing less than attack the xbox 360 and make it look bad with baseless nonesense. Wow.

    It's like PS3 fanboys are scared that the 360 version of GTA4 will outsell the PS3 version so all they resort to is "UHHH, LOOK RED RING OF DEATH:".

    The especially funny thing is this will probably skyrocket to the top of the rankings on this site and become featured or something.

      I have both systems and enjoy both of them. I think you are the one that is being a fanboy right now. The article brings a very valid point to the forefront. "people with first generation 360s are currently just running on luck"

      I did personally mention that I don't see that there will be any problem with the XBOX360 handling GTAIV, and even then the DLC outweigh any negatives. Boy this is the only time I've been jealous of XBOX360 owners

    Alot of people that have it also state they are on console 2 or 3 lol... I mean this game will break consoles on both sides of the spectrum i mean the PS3 isn't free from overheating nor breaking from other reasons.

    I like how most of the people that complain they'd be too nervous about the RROD while playing GTA IV are total tools that'll never own a 360.

    That Halo 3 argument is stupid anyway. The single player is smaller but who the hell bought the game for that? People played online for hours a day.

    Meh, I'm confident that nothing will happen to me. My system is relavitely new (November 2007, just before the Falcon chips), so I think I'll be able to complete this and get a good amount of online play done before my console conks out.

    I'm fairly sure it'll be fine seeing as the game was developed using the 360 as opposed to the PS3.

      It wast developed on both the 360 and PS3 platform, simultaneously. Though the 360 version pulled ahead (not surprising though, considering the 360 is easier for devs to deal with).

      It wasn't just ported from th 360 to the PS3 like some people think >_>

    I'm sure it will be fine. It can obviously handle the actual game since some places have reviewed the 360 version and given it 10/10. As for the RROD happening due to it being a hundred hours? People played Oblivion didn't they?

    Never got the RRoD, and it's cases have been reduced by a good percentage since last year, so meh, old and pointless argument, tbh.

        You've missed the point completely. If I submit anti-PS3 articles then they should be rejected. I'd expect the same for anti-360 articles.

        Fanboy articles lead to flame wars and mass arguing in general which is not what gamegrep should be about.

          Anyway, what I meant was, we don't reject articles just because they're against the PS3 or against the 360. If they have some valid points, we usually approve them. But yeah, like said, too much fanboyism is bad.

    If it couldn't handle it then why would they bother even making the game for release on it. It's going to be able to handle it no matter what happens. So there article really means nothing.

    LMAO Considering the fact that the first written review that was made, from the first person to beat it on the 360, claimed it was outstanding.
    Which prompted it to get perfect score.
    The real question which should be asked, Can GTA4 Handle the 360?
