The evolution of Smackdown games.

It shows a whole bunch of pictures from all the smackdown games, including a few from the coming one 2009. Obviously they've come a long way since they originally stated but it just shows how much they have evolved from game to game.
With the recent announcement of ultimate Cro-Magnon bust-em-up, WWE SmackDown! vs RAW 2009 for every system under the sun, we rounded up images from all installments to see if history’s been kind to the aging grappler. Head here to chart the rise and fall of the core gameplay, even if it has changed little (why mess with sweaty success?) The graphics, however, have gone from what we’d consider Picasso baby-chum on the PS1 to near lifelike Real Doll status on the next-gen systems. Behold the visual history of the celebrated SmackDown! series.

Here Comes the Pain is one of the greatest multiplayer games of all time. The single player is awesome too.

They need to make the new games more like HCTP.

I've still got the original Smackdown, lol. It's weird how primitive it feels after playing SvR 2007 (the last wrestling game I bought). Yet still, it's quite entertaining.

Smackdown! 2 was my favorite of the SD! games, Here Comes the Pain my second.

They've come a long way in terms of graphics, and their differences in weight classes and other attempts at features have been alright...I just don't get that excitement for this series as I used to, 2008 being my least played Smackdown! game to date.

Still, the theme for 2009 is going somewhere for me, as I'm usually playing games with a friend or relative.

No wrestling game will ever come close to being as good as Here comes the pain.

Well consider yourself pretty much unlucky. HCTP would have to have been the best title in the series, the graphics were a step up on the preceeders and the new gameplay allowed for changes and good ones. The season mode was by far the best.
