5 Reasons Why Microsoft is Betting On the Wrong Horse Again

Underated | April 03, 2008 | News | XBOX 360
Microsoft believe that they are backing the right horse in going for online distribution whilst there are 5 good reasons as to why they've made the wrong choice. Personally, I don't have a very strong opinion on the matter. Only time will tell to see if Microsoft made the right choice.
“The horse that we’re fundamentally backing is the one that says the future of entertainment content is online digital distribution. I would argue that we backed the right horse.”

“If we’re sitting here in 12 or 18 months time, we’ll be saying ‘why were people even thinking about a disc format when it’s really about digital distribution?’ Our strategy’s been developed for the last six or seven years, and ever since we launched the platform it [online content] has been our big, big, big bet.”

It's so true. This might happen later, but it is WAY too early.

Disc media is always the convenient thing. No hassle and no downloading times. (Not everyone has the fastest internet connection on earth. )

I agree 100%, i mean i would be a wreck if i had to download all my movies and games at the current internet speeds. Not to mention every 20 games and 30 HD movies i would need to spend £200 on a new HDD. What i do save on digital distribution gets blown every few months on a physical storage medium. It is really not viable, it is nice that Microsoft are pushing it but it is like pushing a boulder up a steep hill, it's a pointless task currently.
