Sony say sorry for the PS3 Network Vulnerability

tidus04 | March 27, 2008 | News | Playstation 3
Sony have Officially Announced and Apologized for the Playstation 3's Vulnerability when in direction to the PSN and have said "this should never have happened".

It was found that users that hacked into the system and access peoples PSN accounts which offered the ability to use peoples Credit as well as change there Passwords. Tough thankfully, they could not find out user's Credit Card information

Sony go onto announce that a new patch will become available soon and this will close the chance of anyone hacking into your PSN account.
As reported earlier on today about the PS3 Vulnerability and Network Hack which left weaknesses found on their PSN system (See Here), Sony have officially said sorry.

Sony officially Apologizes for the PS3 Vulnerability and Network Hack, we deserve more than just an apology because this should never have happened.

Hackers who discovered a way to hack into the system where they could access PSN accounts is terrible because not only can they change passwords they can also use peoples credit, thank god the hackers cannot access credit card information or use Visa cards because that could have been mayhem.

A new patch closing down this exploitation should be released pretty soon. A word of warning please try and access your PSN account just to make sure no one has changed your password.

More information can be found via JP Playstation.com (in Japanese though, sorry).

      Mhm.

I love how even the SOURCE, Engadget, doesn't realize it ONLY AFFECTS THE PC store, NOT THE PS3 ONE. >_>

Incredible shame to see they have aloud a way into accessing other Users accounts but I guess it is good they are doing something about it =/

Its not like sites don't get hacked all the time, in worst case scenarios with people having their whole identity snatched. But still, like they said, it shouldn't have happened. At least they came right out and apologized.

Can't believe this happened. Hopefully nothing happened to my account in the time that I was gone for.
