Disney announces Rock Band-alike (minus instruments) Ultimate Band

shuandrew | February 27, 2008 | News | Wii DS
No doubt hoping to cash in on the popualarity of the likes of Guitar Hero, Rock Band and other rhymthm/music titles, Disney Interactive Studios has announced Ultimate Band for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS. Except, rather than peripherals, gamers will instead make use of the Wii Remote, Nunchuck and touch screen controls.
Disney Interactive Studios is hardly renowned for its originality in the videogames industry. After all, you just know that a generic 3D platformer based on the firm’s latest blockbuster animation is an inevitability year after year, just as it has pilfered ideas from nearly every other popular type of videogaming experience. Given the success of rhythm-based music games of late, particularly Guitar Hero and Rock Band, it won’t come as a surprise to see DIS today announcing Ultimate Band for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS.

Songs are what make the game good...

There have been plenty of music games. DDR, Parappa, even that DJ one.

What makes Guitar Hero and Rock Band so great is their song selection.

The reason I bring this up, is that I can't imagine Disney pulling out much but their former Mousecateers*however the hell you spell that*

lolololol i can see it now. hannah montana and whatnot, all buried underneath ridiculously subpar gameplay. you'd think with all the $$ those fags rake in, they'd be able to pay people to make a FUN game once in a while.

my prediction.. ultimate band = gay, watered down, easy version of guitar hero.

I do believe the word fail sums this up rather well. Going to be all Disney music. The only somewhat decent music that's going to be on there is probably going to be the Pirates of the Caribbean music. Also using the Wiimote and such instead of instruments like Guitar Hero and Rock Band can only make this fail even more. I don't see this doing well unless it has some ROCK...or METAL!

As soon as I saw that it's by Disney, I automatically thought it was on the Wii and DS.
    I was right.

On an unrelated note Parappa was awesome. At least this article brought back some good memories.
