Lair Analog Controls Confirmed For March

Linkin Park Fan | February 24, 2008 | News | Playstation 3
You probably remember Lair, right? It was a big scandal when it came out. It was a highly anticipated title that got horrible reviews. Yet many players said the reviews were wrong and was a great game. The problem that gave Lair such horrible scores was the force use of SIXAXIS. This will no longer be true. A patch will be released in march giving you the option to use the analogs. Will this change many peoples mind about Lair?
I played Lair today and the controls wouldn’t work. Why? They reconfigured it for analog use. Now you can choose which controls you like. It’s too bad so many Lair owners balked at the innovation. It’s still good to have a choice. The patch will be available sometime in March for download.Â

Certainly won't change the reviews. Don't get me wrong, I loved Lair, but controls weren't the only reason they docked marks. There were other things like bad camera, confusing objectives and sometimes overly difficult tasks. If F5 can patch those up along with this update and then ask for re-reviews, we might have a winner. But the odds of that happening are slim.

Why didn't they release this patch like 6 months ago?

I think it's a bit too late for this.

    You can imagine the ads...

But yes, I agree, this is far too late. The damage was done; no one really cares about Lair anymore. Besides, there's no saving it if people are using it as a joke or an example of a flop (even if there are good reasons it wasn't).

I care. I liked the game but the sixaxis control was one of my complaints. I'm more used to the analog stick. I mean sixaxis is good only every once in a while like R&C.

This might be a little late on the developers part but still is great news! I might consider buying it soon. ^^

UHHHH, I can already play this game with analog controls. I put Lair in the other day and it didn't let me use the SIXAXIS and i was pissed because I couldn't do some stuff because the button maps were all *bleep*ed up because of it.

      Weird.

But like I said, they aren't going to get many more sales by doing this. People have moved on to bigger things. Besides, the press has all but slaughtered this game.

I put Lair in to test out my Dual Shock 3 controller and see if it had vibration functionality and it updated the game and took away my ability to play with motion sensitivity. So dumb, give me the option.

After playing Lair so much with motion control, I don't see myself actually getting used to Analog stick controls as quickly as anyone would expect.

Agreed. I became addicted to that game with the motion controls (I really liked them) and I'm not gonna get used to analog controls very easily.

I had more fun playing Lair on my PSP than anything.

Portability is a wonder of gaming, that's for sure.
