Florida Supreme Court to Jack Thompson: Bad Boy! We're Going to Spank You Now!

Avalith | February 21, 2008 | News | Misc
Apparently Jack Thompson loves getting his face out there... Even when he's in trouble. As we've all already probably heard about Thompson's possible disbarment, the Florida Supreme Court decided to get on his case and issue a show cause order and he chose to forward the order to GamePolitics. This seems easy enough, right? Explain yourself and you're out of the dog house?

Wrong. The court decided to add something else on to the show cause order to make things more stressful for Thompson: His filings must be signed by a member of the Bar other than himself if they don't like what they hear. Good luck, Jack. Good luck. We'll be seeing you on the roster of shamefully disbarred attorneys soon enough.
02/19/2008 ORDER-SHOW CAUSE TO: JOHN BRUCE THOMPSON It appears to the Court that you have abused the legal system by submitting numerous frivolous and inappropriate filings in this Court.

Therefore, it is ordered that you shall show cause on or before March 5, 2008, why this Court should not find that you have abused the legal system process and impose upon you a sanction for abusing the legal system, including, but not limited to directing the Clerk of this Court to reject for filing any future pleadings, petitions, motions, letters, documents, or other filings submitted to this Court by you unless signed by a member of The Florida Bar other than yourself.

I believe this is where the song "Hit the Road, Jack!" needs to start playing on a continuous loop for Thompson.

Well then they shouldn't be reading GameGrep right after watching porn or else it would've been a lot.

It's a bit late for that now. =[

This is the big thing that everybody who knows him has wanted for ages. It must have felt SO good being the person/peoples who > him.

    Good luck indeed.
Poor Jack, he just digs himself deeper into more crap, and it keeps piling up.
Just give it a rest, Jack.

Update: Thompson plans to sue the Florida Supreme Court for this.

...Needless to say, he's just digging his grave deeper and deeper.

Avalith Edit: Sorry about that Slayer.

quote E-mail response from Jack Thompson
This is the single greatest gift that any court has ever given me in my 31 years of practicing law. I shall now, through a new federal lawsuit, deconstruct The Florida Bar…

Thank you, Supremes! You have given me the weapons I need.
quote E-mail from Jack Thompson to Florida Supreme Court
This court’s panicked threat against Thompson… has wonderfully proven not just that Thompson has no “adequate state remedy” but that he has no state remedy at all. This court threatens Thompson if he even files this pleading.

This is a brazen attempt by this court to repeal the absolute right of every citizen, under the First Amendment, to “petition the government for a redress” of grievances…

The [Florida] Bar threatens a whistleblower with retribution because he dares to keep blowing the whistle? This court has threatened Thompson. He does not threaten back. He hereby informs this court that he will see it in federal court. This court has just thrown Brer Rabbit into the briar patch.

Am I the only one who sees his use of the metaphor 'weapons' as a bit ironic?

    Best. News. Ever.

It's about time the Florida courts (and Florida Bar) started doing something about Jack Thompson. They seem to have been threatening him for such a long time, yet nothing has ever come out of it.
Here's hoping they're serious this time.
