Call of Duty 4 is the most sold game of 2007

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has sold over seven million copies worldwide since it was released in November of last year, becoming the most sold game of 2007.
Activision has announced that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was the number one title in units worldwide for calendar 2007, this according to The NPD Group, Chart Track and The GFK Group.

Since its launch in November, the game has sold in excess of 7 million units worldwide.

Will Kassoy, senior vice president, global brand management, Activision: “We’re very excited about this achievement especially given so many competitive titles this year. Consumer and critics agree that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is one of the best games ever created and further establishes Call of Duty as one of the premier brands in the industry. This ground-breaking game and franchise continue to establish new standards by which all other action games will be judged.”

This is the latest in a series of great news from Activision recently - the company recently announced the that Guitar Hero franchise has brought in over a billion dollars and the company also became the number one publisher of 2007 in the US.

    Can't say that I'm surprised, it truly is that damn good, heh. It's a shame that Infinity Ward will most likely not be doing the 5th installment of the series, though.

    If it's sold 7 million across 3 platforms and Halo 3 has sold 8 million across 1 platform then it's not the most sold game of 2007. GG.

        Seconded. Halo's alright, but I think CoD is a lot more entertaining. Even my Halo fanboy friends agree.

    Maybe when COD5 comes out and doesn't do nearly as well, they can stop making outdated WWII games. Oh well, there's always COD6 to look forward to.

    lol. Maybe the guy is speaking of only the Multi platform games, though still, Halo 3 did sell alot more.

    Not surprised. My jaw hit the floor the first time I saw it in action. It stayed down there when I actually played it.
