Feeling gullible? Buy a painted Wii

mistermostyn | December 28, 2007 | News | Wii
A couple of New York City artists are looking to obtain their favourite material 'wants' by getting punters to buy representative paintings of each specific item, which just so happens to include the Nintendo Wii.
Christine and Justin would really like a Nintendo Wii. Should anyone be (stupid enough?) willing to offer up the retail price for Nintendo’s hit console in return for the canvas-bound interpretation then the eager couple will immediately purchase said Wii and cross that particular item off their list of material ‘wants.’

Well, it's a better approach to making money than selling a "miraculous Virgin Mary" cheese sandwich on eBay =/

Sadly, the cheese sandwich would fetch more money.

So you pay like 1/4 of the price of the real thing and you get a painting (and the painting is not all that amazing)?

A painting... wow. Definitely wouldn't buy a painting, I'd actually make an effort to look for an actual console.

Sigh, clicking the source would reveal the answers to these questions.

No, you don't pay 1/4 of the price of the real thing and get a painting. You pay the full price of the item in return for the painted version.

How much money do they get for the paintings? They get whatever the retail price should be for a Wii, iPhone, Guitar Hero guitar, etc.

Yeah...I'm not that crazy about the system to buy a painting of it as well.
