Now the whole emotion thing i will agree that i may be more heartless and emotionless than i was 10 years ago but while violent games may contribute to this, it is yet another group of things causing the problem... I cannot turn on the tv anymore without seeing the news showing 16 murders, 2 earthquakes and a death toll ranking up the high thousands, tv and cinema is also more violent than ever, so it isn't just video games. But personally i feel the later (being emotionless) is a good thing in todays world since the way things are going there has never been a bigger threat from global terrorism, if anything video games, film and the media are training everyone for a war situation.
Video games aren't the cause of all bloody bad things in the world damn it! Granted the latest generation of people are tools (no offense to those who aren't tools, your smart so your excluded in what I'm saying) but to blame it just on games alone is just beyond stupid. It's not like every single bloody person in the latest generation even looks at video games, let alone plays them. The number one person to blame these days is one's self. That simple. Yet it seems to be one of the hardest tasks humans face in their lives. I can understand not wanting to take responsibility but that doesn't mean that the responsibility for one's actions should be put on something else or someone else. Every single day we're seeing more and more silly crap like this. Unless there's some serious changes we can 100% for sure kiss the human race goodbye. Funny though isn't it...a 15 year old can see what a lot of older people can't.
Since we're playing this blame game, I'll blame...the Earth, the Pope, cars, toilet paper, Bush, cricket bats and oxygen. Seriously...this blaming stuff just because it's convenient really has to stop. These days anything can be blamed, anybody can be sued, and everything is just generally messed up to some degree. And they wonder why some people commit suicide. Sorry if I sound just a lil pissed or am taking things over the top, I'm just tired of this sort of thing coming up all the time.
Since the dawn of gaming, people have been trying to find ways to put gamers down. They said that games damage our eyes, games make us dumb, and games make us commit crimes.
Look, I've been gaming since the very early 90's. I have 20/20 vision, I've received multiple scholarships to colleges, and I've never had the thought of committing a (major) crime. Give me a break.
Everyone knows gaming is a form of entertainment, if they can't realise that, then they are brain damaged themselves.
Seriously, these people must really hate video games for making up a large assumption....
Video games are used in nursing homes around the world to improve brain functions and slow down the effects of Alzheimers in senior citizens. It's been proven that video games strengthen the mind - It keeps the brain alert and motivated. It's just a shame that it's not promoted enough in the media to be taken seriously.
I totally disagree with this 100%, i have never been smarter and have improved brain function since playing videogames. It helped me in real life. Im tired of coming on here and seeing stupid articles bash games when we know its false. There is far more worse things that causes this crap and Existenz said them already.
GG people.
makes you violent, ruins your eyes, makes you anti-social, makes you stupid and swells your fingers,
what they actually do:
stretch your temper and can relax you, sharpen your eye sight, give you new topics to talk about and give you more things to do with friends in general, helps you learn and hasn't caused swelling in hands since the NES's days of Nintendo thumb
As soon as I read that, I stopped reading.
