Maxim equals TIME with ‘Top 10’ inaccuracy

mistermostyn | December 12, 2007 | News | PC Playstation 2
TIME Magazine's 'top ten' games of 2007 saw it place Halo 3 atop the pile, while the Spike VGAs crowned BioShock. Men's magazine Maxim takes a different view and hands the top honour to...
Before getting into Maxim’s top-ten selection, it is worth bearing in mind that its expertise and coverage in the world of gaming is marginal when compared to the print space it reserves for scantily clad female celebrities. Indeed, while you probably wouldn’t rely on FHM for movie reviews over the likes of Empire or Premiere, you shouldn’t place too much stock in Maxim when it comes to gaming – especially if it’s sitting next to Edge Magazine on the shelf.

I'm definitely going to have to disagree with Stranglehold, Lost Planet and The Darkness. That list should be rearranged as well.

The Orange Box has been my personal highlight of the year, purely for Portal.

Don't get why Lost Planet's up there. I can't stand it.

Why do they place God of War 2 on that list, especially at 5 come on. Im glad Call of duty 4 is on there though. I agree with Dance Floor Killah on this too.

Bad list, but I don't care. It isn't like I am going to go out and buy Guitar Hero or Lost Planet after seeing this list.

At least I think their number 1 is a pretty good choice. I really enjoyed the game. Multiplayer is addictive getting new guns and unlocking attachments. Achieving those "360-like achievements" are fun.

Bah, like the article said, don't rely one magazines that don't make games their priority....The only reason WHY the magazine even has gaming (and perhaps gadgets) is because it is essentially a GUY's magazine, and a lot of guys like games, and electronic gadgets, so they felt they should include that in there, to add extra appeal...

This list is worse then the last one.

But hey! At least The Darkness got the recognition it deserves. That game is very underrated.

Meh, I actually much preferred Time's list. This is pretty decent, and branches off a bit from the the more 'anticipated' games, though.

This list is even stranger than the last one. Stranglehold and Lost Planet shouldn't be up there.

Maxim, sticking to what you're good at: giving the male population stuff to fap to.

Thumbs up for good "fap" usage.

Where the *bleep* is Mass Effect?

Lost Planet wasn't even this year was it?
