310K 360s sold over Thanksgiving week

Saiya | December 02, 2007 | News | XBOX 360 Company Gaming Tech/Hardware
Microsoft had a great holiday this year especially during what is known as "Black Friday". The Xbox 360 sold 310,000 360's throughout the day go Xbox!!
Console hardware sales are getting a lot of scrutiny of late. Last year, the industry-tracking NPD Group began releasing monthly breakdowns of US retail hardware sales and found its numbers getting a lot of play in both mainstream and specialist press outlets.

With the unofficial start to the holiday retail season having kicked off after the Thanksgiving holiday, CNBC's Tech Check blog is giving a glimpse of how Microsoft's Xbox 360 fared over the week of "Black Friday," which ran from November 18 to 24.

In an addendum to a story on the console maker's various woes with Xbox 360 reliability, Tech Check reports that US consumers purchased more than 310,000 systems for the week of November 18. For the entire month of October, the NPD Group reported Xbox 360 sales of 366,000, compared with 519,000 Wiis and 121,000 PlayStation 3s.

If true, the 310,000 figure is near the 350,000 Wiis Nintendo reported were sold during Black Friday week. So far, Sony has not reported exact sales numbers for the PS3 but did say that sales of the console increased 245 percent during the seven-day period.

[UPDATE] Microsoft confirmed the 310,000 figure to GameSpot, and went on to claim that "according to estimates from top retailers," the Xbox 360 outsold the PlayStation 3 by a ratio of 2:1 for the week.

Wow, nice. 2:1 is impressive, although I imagine that's probably a bit exaggerated. Well done MS.

There was an article a few days ago with Sony saying the numbers given out by Microsoft were "Way off." They wouldn't say what the PS3 sales numbers were, but instead are waiting for the NPD numbers to come in.

Irony, definition of. Oh and now all of a sudden you wonder what Sony's numbers are, after we specifically said the percentages were misleading without anything to compare them to in the other news post. You are in another world kid.

You do know a smiley is used when joking right. Which i stated before.

I just what to know if there right. If MS screwed around the number to make them have more. Im just interesting and this has nothing to do with the other news post.

I read everything you post and you are the most nonsensical person on here. Nothing you ever say makes sense, but you always think you are right. Its amazing. At the very least, you could use proper grammar. Then, you would be a nonsensical fool who knows proper punctuation. But for the hell of it, maybe you could explain how this article doesn't have anything to do with the other. They are both regarding the consoles sales numbers for Black Friday. Am I to believe there is no correlation between them?

Um the fact is i just want to know if what dmf_dynasty is right about that article. It has nothing to do with this article. Im just interested and im not taking any sides (ps3 or 360). iLL your post are always offensive to me so im not even going to retort back, arguing with you is pointless. I never said anything here that stated that i try to be right all the time, but you seem to think thats what i always try to do.
