Nintendo Wii Admits PS3 Four Week Defeat on Japanese Wii News Channel

Ameer | December 01, 2007 | News | Wii Misc
The quote below sums up this article pretty much. In Japan the Wii News Channel has a story on the Wii's recent sales defeat in the Asian nation. There's an image attached.
Ah, the irony: a reader sends us this screenshot of the Nintendo Wii News channel admitting its own four-week "defeat" against the Sony PlayStation 3. It's either that a) the channel editors feel they are not being paid enough, b) that Nintendo doesn't give a damn about giving the losing side some respite, c) nobody edits the channel or d) you are all a bunch of Apple Sony fanboys.

See like i stated the PS3 has been beating the Wii for weeks on end in japan. And you know its all thanks to the price-cut and the 40GB console.

Well i though that was obvious. Since most people who wanted one already has them in Japan you would think that sales will sink.

It's not four weeks in a row. PS3 has only outold the Wii two or three weeks in November.

Media Create the last four weeks:
          10/29/07-11/04/07: Wii: 37,617 PS3: 17,434
          11/05/07-11/11/07: PS3: 55,924 Wii: 34,546
          11/12/07-11/18/07: PS3: 39,178 Wii: 36,230
          11/19/07-11/25/07: Wii: 54,362 PS3: 50,564
Numbers for 11/26/07-12/02/07 come out this Thursday.

Clearly not 4 weeks in a row. Mind you, I'm not talking down the PS3, but rather I'm telling you to get your facts straight.

Oy oy! I got another Conspiracy Theory:

It's secretly telling Wii owners to get another Wii to outsell the PS3 again!....idiotic conclusions, srsly.

Haha, "defeat" makes these console sales sound like a battle.

Cmon' Channel editors, we're talking about games, srsly.

It does make it sound sorta like a battle doesn't it.

Although IMO, I think it's ironic how Sony wasn't doing to good in the beginning but once their prices dropped and they released a few games there even beating the Wii!!!!!

Another reason I think their winning is because everyone in Japan already has a Wii. That's a major factor in it too.

Well thats because PS3 wasnt really worth it at start, after it got a price cut, and many anticipated titles has finally released, PS3 is now worth it.

Saiya I would have to go with you on that about it being a battle

Well people aren't going to keep buying Wiis if most everybody who wants one has one. The sales are going to drop eventually. It's total sales that matter.

Thats exactly what I was saying, They can't expect for the Wii's to keep selling there.

It's not like the fans are going to keep buying them just so they can out sell the other systems!!

    And this matters why?

The Wii still leads the PS3 by about 10 million units sold. So just because the PS3 outsold the Wii in Japan for 2 weeks doesn't mean the console war is over.

Yeah, nowhere near over. The PS3's catching up, obviously, but it needs to do a lot. It's good to see Sony doing well, although it's gonna be hard to catch up.

Right 10 million, exaggeration much. More like 7 overall. Not 10.

No one even stated the console war is over since the PS3 dominated the month of November. Your putting your own words in the article.
All this is saying that the PS3 has been increasing it sales alot in japan.

lol, I love how you Sony fanboys get all excited about this. I don't see an article every time the Wii outsells the PS3 in a month in Japan. (which has been every month since release)
