Sony refuses to repair dusty PS3 under warranty

N.Shah | November 14, 2007 | News | Playstation 3
How often do you clean your PS3? You might want to consider cleaning it often since an excess amount of dust can void your warranty, according to Sony. One poor owner has to pay $150 to get his console repaired because Sony said the console was "too dusty", and therefore not covered by the warranty.
Check out the images below. Do you think the PlayStation 3 is too dusty to be repaired? Seriously, would you let your precious PS3 get this dusty in the first place? In our opinion, this console does look neglected. Let us know what you think using the comment section below.

Wanna know the solution to this problem? Regular cleaning. You don't need special equipment to clean your PS3. Just a soft cloth, possibly a tiny bit damp. It's not hard.

If you don't clean it, it will fail...or something.

Well what an idiot! Why in the heck would that guy send it in like that? He should not be allowed to have a PS3 if that's the way he's going to treat it.

He must have got it at launch and not cleaned it once. That pic with the card slots is just wrong. I've never formally cleaned mine, but if I see slight dust, I make sure to get it with a shirt corner.

Wow. I never clean my consoles, and even the older ones that sit in my closet aren't anywhere as bad as that. For some reason, my PS2 doesn't collect dust. My DirecTV box, or whatever you want to call it, has a crap-load of dust on it, but my PS2 doesn't even have the slightest spec of dust.

Seen this going around already but yeah, it's filthy, if he was overseas in iraq or something then I could see it being that torn up, but as it is, it's just outright abused.

This guy has been crying about this all over the web. Doesn't take that much effort to keep your electronics cleaner than that. Why did he even send it in looking like that?

Besides, how many consoles has Sony refused? His! He deserved not getting it fixed if that's the way he takes care of stuff!

I have said this many times PS3's or anything like that machine needs personal care and maintenance. Its a $600 system and you leave it to get that much dust...come on. This person should not have gotten the system if your going to treat it like this, its been poorly mistreated and i can think of a few people who would actually treat it fairly with respect. And that includes people on neoseeker. I feel terribly sorry for that system.

Thats what you think, The fact that its been abused like VeGiTAX2 said doesn't mean anything to you! I for one feel sorry for that PS3 that has a terrible owner its still a hardware that needs care.

This reminds me of what some really awesome person said once. I think it goes something like "It's a machine, it doesn't have feelings..."

So what! Are you saying you don't feel for the console when the person abuses it since its a $600, your basically wasting money. It has nothing to do with its it had feels, its the fact that the person is horrible and should not even have a system like that. So stop with the feelings crap.

I feel bad for whoever had to pay for it, and whoever was going to play it, but not the console itself.
