No Further GTA:IV Delay

Apparently GTA:IV will not be delayed any further. Last week, Zelnick told a BMO Capital Markets conference that the company was not ready to announce a firm date for GTA:IV. Some people thought he was implying it will be delayed again, but he then announced it will still be released sometime between the beginning of February and the end of April and he "wasn't intending to be newsworthy".

Well that's a relief. :D

Take-Two chairman Strauss Zelnick has clarified that Grand Theft Auto IV will still release in the company's second fiscal quarter - between February and April 2008.

Last week, Zelnick told a BMO Capital Markets conference that the company was not ready to announce a firm date for the highly-anticipated title.

This was taken by some to mean that the previously announced launch window - between the start of February and the end of April 2008 - was not set in stone.

But Zelnick, speaking to Gamespot, has stated that he only meant that Take-Two and developer Rockstar did not want to name an exact date yet.

"I wasn't intending to be newsworthy," Zelnick said. "When asked about the release date, I confirmed the previous release date we'd given, which is our second fiscal quarter. That's to say sometime between the beginning of February and the end of April."

Glad to hear it, that means that they are close to putting the finishing touches on it. I cannot wait for this game. It's gunna be beyond awesome.

I hope it will be worth the wait though...Especially after Assassin's Creed >_>

Well, I know they're different games, but both have a lot of emphasis on the Free Roam aspect...

Well, I'm sure it will be a great game, probably get game of the year for 08...

  I'm shocked that you're even questioning whether it's worth the wait or not.
  
  So far with all the details Rockstar have given us, it seems this game is gonna be awesome. I love the new founded realism, the graphics [albeit a lot of people complain about them not being good enough, I like them; the game isn't just about graphics after all], the fact that you can use taxis to get around, no more loading time when going to different islands, missions will be more realistic, longer, varied, and will have multiple possible outcomes, you can use your mobile phone to set up deals, smarter pedestrians, etc.. This game is gonna be a blast, no question about it.

    I have to agree with tallteen86, i mean i understand what we've heard does sound very promising but remember, FF12 had alot of time in development and it turned into a bombshell. While there not the same genre or type of game im only referring to the time it took before the game was released.
    
    I hope it does come out close to perfection as i hope. Too bad rockstar doesn't have a demo for us to play.

      Have you seen the trailers? If not, I recommend you to take a look at them here. It's the closest you'll get to a demo.
      
      Anyway, the trailers weren't a let-down, they just showed how good the game is gonna be. I know I can't truly judge whether a game is good or not just by looking at the trailer, but from all the gathered information so far, plus the trailers, the game sounds promising.

      I have seen the trailers if not all of them and even have two of them on my PS3, but remember Trailers while show you some interesting stuff is no different than pics. You can't really see how the gameplay will work or even get a taste of the action like most game on the PS store, thats my point. But I know its going to be good, but like i said just cause a game gets delayed a couple of times and takes couple of years to come out doesn't make it good, hence why i chose to use FF12 as an example. It took two if not more years to come out and it wasn't that good compare to past FF games. Was it good in its own right, of course but still most who have played it will tell you it wasn't that good. For a FF game stand point, which is why i agree with TallTeen86.

It's about time we got a bit of news on the actual release date, I'm glad to here that the news is positive. Lets hope that the time they have left they make it count and produce us an awesome game.
