Sony secures exclusive for next Gran Theft Auto

In the latest issue of the Official Xbox Magazine, there is a article that said Sony secured the next Gran Theft Auto game for only the PS3. Rockstar said that they have really wanted to create a GTA game that harnesses the power of the cell and Blu-Ray.

According to the November 2007 issue # 76 of the Official Xbox Magazine Sony has secured the next Grand Theft Auto, which would be number 7 in the series, to be a true exclusive to the Playstation 3.
"Rockstar really wanted to make a game that you can truly only do on PS3, harnessing the power of the Cell and Blu-ray disc and this deal lets them do just that" as said by Sony's Michael Shorrock in a statement to the press. " We handed Rockstar a signed blank check because we were short sighted enough to let Grand Theft Auto's exclusivity get away from us. Oops!"
Looks like the Xbox fans may be out of luck when it come to the next installment of Grand Theft Auto. If they do release a 360 version it sounds like it would have to be on multiple dvd discs if the game truly takes advantage of Blu-ray.

One thing is for sure. This will be interesting to watch play out. Stay tuned!

Damn. If that's true that's *bleep*ing crazy and good news for Sony. It could even sway people that haven't bought either console yet to go for the PS3 just for GTA4 and GTA5.

Ermm...why would the OXM admit something like this? Surely they would keep it a secret if they knew about it?

I mean obviously it will be public knowledge sooner or later but I can't see OXM broadcasting it, can you?

Great! Prefer Sony anyway.

Just one bad thing - my friend has pre-ordered GTA IV for XBox 360 a while ago. Will he get his money back if the game becomes exclusive to Sony?

xbox.com is constantly updated, so why would it remain on the site if it were not being released for the console. at that it is still able to be preordered from there as well so...

Well now i know that this game won't sell as good now because of the angry fans who want it for their X-Box 360 and can't afford a PS3!!!

My friend was one of those fans and we would've had a ball playing it but as usual Sony ruin our fun...

you just contradicted your own statement, wth? if the 360 fans make sells go down then how did sony ruin it? wouldn't it sell better for now since there are more consoles sold in one console than the other. the game will be great for both, hands down, we all just have to wait a little longer for it.

I don't know whether this article is true or false. If it's false, then I'd start punching myself since I don't have an Xbox360 or any other console except for the PS3.
