Christian Bale to star as Solid Snake

The popular video game franchise, Metal Gear Solid is hitting the big screen. But who is going to play as Solid Snake? Well in a interview with Christian Bale (from Batman Begins) in the recent Nuts Magazine that he will be starring in the movie.

In the latest edition of Nuts magazine ( UK ) there is an interview with Christian Bale, in which he states he`s in the running to play Solid Snake in the 2009 movie Metal Gear Solid. I think he would be a great choice if he gets the part, but who would you like to see play Snake in the movie?

He's a solid actor. But he hasn't got the voice or look for Snake.

I don't know much about this guy, but he just doesn't give off the same badass aura Snake has, although I'll admit he did pull of Batman pretty well. But this is Snake, and I'm not sure he's all that great of a fit. David Hayter has the perfect voice to go with Snake's personality (considering he is Snake's voice actor =P), but I have never actually seen a picture of him.

Why don't they just make movies similar to the cutscenes in the games? Of course, now that they are no longer limited to console hardware anymore, I'm sure they can make it look better. However, they can just keep the same style and all. The cutscenes were almost like movies on their own, anyway.

By the way, he is just "in the running". Nobody has been chosen yet, it seems.

As much as i like Christian Bale he doesn't have the persona for Snake......but he is an actor who knows maybe he could pull it off, but im still skeptical though.

Why not David Hayter... Sure he can't act but he does the voice and they based the whole character around his looks, i'm sure over the next 2 years he can learn on the job, he is acting a game character after all its not that hard.

Judging from the picture in this article, I think he could definitely pull off Snake's look. As for the voice, well, I'm not expecting him to sound identical to Hayter, but as long as he gets close to sounding like Snake, then I'll be happy.

He looks more like Snake than Hugh Jackman, imo.

Well we have seen incredible 'transforms' of actors. I think they can make Christian Bale to look badass. As stated above he pulled out Batman's role very effectively.

I never thought of Bale really. He's a grat actor, but the gruff voice we heard him using in Batman Begins was seriously shit. And we all know that 90% of Snake's persona is in that badass voice, so he better get it right.

Personally I think Christian Bale would be just fine for the role. For those of you complaining about the voice...yeah David Hayter's voice sounds like crap at times during the games, he's by no means perfect. I realize Hayter's been the voice since the MGS series started, but I think there's definitely room for improvement, improvement that Bale as an established screen actor could provide.

    Well the only way you're gonna get the voice is to have David Hayter play Snake, and Lord knows Bale would be better than him. I'm saying that the voice can be improved upon, it sounds overdone at times in the games. Maybe Bale can be that improvement, maybe he can't. All I'm saying is there's room for improvement in the voice.

      I don't think Bale can match up to david hayter voice he just doesn't have snakes badass attitude. Batman begins wasn't all that great with him, he was better than the earlier batman movies those completely sucked in the late 80s.
