Sony Needing Consistent PS3 Strategy?

Dance Floor Killah | September 09, 2007 | News | Playstation 3
Square Enix President Yoichi Wada has commented on Sony's marketing strategy for the PS3, saying the PS3's future will be a tough one if they don't come up with a consistent model of presenting it to consumers.
Sony Corp needs to establish an unwavering marketing strategy for its PlayStation 3 game machine to drive growth of its console business, the head of Japanese videogame publisher Square Enix Co Ltd said.

"Sony first unveiled the PS3 as a mighty home electronics product. Then, after some badgering from game companies, it shifted the position of the console closer to a game machine," Square Enix President Yoichi Wada told reporters on Friday.

"(The future of the PS3) would be tough if its marketing strategy is not straightened up," he said.

Um however They do have a Strategy and i think they need to stay with it. Sony knows how to do things in the gaming business, i mean they wouldn't be where they are today if they didn't have one.

How has there strategy changed? There marketing the PS3 as the most powerful console and a media hub. There was a little muddle at the start but if Square are commenting on what happened 10 months ago I think they should just let it drop

This is the most shallow article I've ever read. Where's the content, oh wait, it's from yahoo.

"Then, after some badgering from game companies, it shifted the position of the console closer to a game machine."

What is this guy's point? The amount of people that didn't buy a PS3 for games make up about 10% of its buyers at most? I believe you get it for the games, but stay for the extra features. Well, that's my opinion.

The funny thing is how people have been misinterpreting this. I've seen on other sites a lot of people saying that this was Square Enix threatening to move development to another platform which is hilarious since they've just announced Star Ocean 4 being PS3 exclusive.

Square Enix is simply speaking their mind on what they think Sony should do, they're not threatening anything.

But they shouldn't have a say, they just need to make great games. Besides sometimes waiting brings out the best out of something, or in this case the PS3 is taking baby steps. Something MS didn't do with theirs.

PS3 has lots of competitors, but as said before they are taking baby steps, they can be successful.
