Wii reaches golden 1 MILLION sales in UK

CDorno | August 30, 2007 | News | Wii
Nintendo proudly announced their latest figures today, revealing that they've reached 1 million Wii units sold in the UK within 38 weeks, making it the fastest selling home console in the UK - ever - bringing Nintendo to hold a 68% market share!
Wii phenomenon is growing, with Nintendo proudly announcing that it has now reached 1 million units sold in the UK. The console reached the milestone in 38 weeks, making it the fastest selling home console.

In comparison, Sony's golden PS2 reached the same mark in 50 weeks, while Microsoft's Xbox 360 reached it in 60 weeks.

Nintendo's UK boss David Yarnton is naturally quite pleased with this achievement, "The non-stop demand for Wii even in the traditionally slow sales periods for videogames in the UK is clearly behind this record-breaking achievement."

The good thing for nintendo is unlike their rivals they are making money of every console sold (while the others lose it on the consoles generally but make up for it with software sales) so the Wii and DS really are a license to print money for them at the moment.
