All three console manufacturers are faced with major problems regarding their systems, especially with the holidays right around the corner, but just what can they do about it?
Xbox 360:
1. Release more reliable hardware.
Sure, the games are great, but they are worthless if you cannot play them. Sure, warranties are nice, but packing up your system, sending it through the mail, and waiting for ages until you get it back doesn't work for a lot of gamers. So with an estimated 25-33% failure rate, this console isn't looking too reliable.
2. Reevaluate the Xbox 360 value proposition.
It's a fact. The cheaper it is, the more people will want to buy it. So a lower price is sure to sell lots more consoles for the upcoming holiday season.
3. Make Xbox Live free.
Online isn't as appealing when you have to pay at least $50 per year for it, including internet costs. Especially when you can already do it for free with the DS, Wii, PSP, and the PS3.
Wii:
1. Keep things fresh.
Yeah, Wii Sports is great, but it can't carry the console forever. They need to come up with lots of new ideas in order to keep sales up.
2. Indulge the hardcore gamer.
Nintendo needs more deep, mature games, preferably with online multiplayer and NO annoying friend codes. We want all kinds of games, ones for both the casual and hardcore gamers.
3. Upgrade the system to HD with forward compatibility.
The graphics, memory, and power are exceeding weak, especially compared to the Xbox 360 and the PS3. If Nintendo expects the Wii to carry them far, they need to release graphics and memory upgrades.
PS3:
1. Lower the price
Yes, it needs to be done again. A lot of people do not want to spend $500 on a game system, as good as it may be. To make the PS3 more comparable to the other two systems, another price drop is imperative.
2. Wow gamers with something new.
The PS3 lacks a library of good games, and this along with the cost is making a lot of gamers have second thoughts about the PS3.
3. Revitalize the PlayStation brand.
The PS3 has a lot to live up to, and the success of Sony's systems depends on how well the PS3 does. They need to step up and work hard to come out ahead once again.

It's a critical time for the Big Three console manufacturers. As the second holiday season rapidly approaches, Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft will do all they can in an effort to win consumer dollars and solidify their mark in gaming.
"This is the most competitive holiday season in the history of video games," says Pacific Crest analyst Evan Wilson. Indeed it is. Fortunately, the increased competition spells increased choice and value for gamers.
But what does each console maker need to do to stay ahead of the competition? We'd like to answer that very question, assuming we were in charge of each respective company. And though it's a lot easier to gamble with other people's money, it doesn't make it any less fun. So come along and backseat drive with us!

The xbox problems can seem iffy but nothing to worry about.
