Sony Facing Another Law Suit

Krunal | July 30, 2007 | News | Playstation 3
As occasionally as it happens, Sony are today facing yet another law suit. This time it is with regards to the parallel processing cell chip that is in the Playstation 3. The Parallel Processing Corporation of Newport Beach, California a couple days ago, submitted a five-page complaint to the Eastern District of Texas.

With the page length of all other complaints (usually reaching double numbers), will this five-page complaint hold for long? The suit itself, also doesn't actually say which patent was infringed, just asks to have their Lawyers fees paid (with interest) and the impounding and destruction of all Sony products that infringe the patent.
Sony has already been slapped with patent suits over the construction of its PlayStation 3 Blu-ray discs and the system's digital security technology. Now the electronics giant is being taken to court over the parallel processing Cell chip that powers its latest console.

I hate how everything like this is turned into Sony being the person that gets in trouble. The CELL was a joint effort, so to say that Sony was doing something wrong and only them is *bleep*ing insane.

"The suit doesn't specify which of the patent's claims Sony is infringing upon, but it states that the company's actions "are causing irreparable harm and monetary damage" to the company."
AKA Sony and company are doing it better than the patent holders ever could have and are reaping the benefits.

This is probably something Sony had no idea about, it seems like a very wide sweeping patent they have; "a patent for "synchronized parallel processing with shared memory""

Also.. "Parallel Processing Corporation is seeking damages and attorney's fees with interest, as well as the impounding and destruction of all Sony products that infringe on the patent."

They're going to come to my house and take away my PS3?! OVER MY DEAD BODY BITCHES!

Impounding or destruction of all products?

That doesn't sound possible, nevermind likely to happen. C#mon, they're fishing with this, surely...

I can't help it but to laugh at this so hard. Sony and the PS3 have just had so many problems. I'm ALMOST beginning to feel sorry for them, ALMOST. Recalling and destroying all PS3's doesn't sound possible though, its way too late for that. However they may have to bring back all PS3's that are on the shelves and on the construction line at least if Sony loses this law suit. All I can say is that it would suck to be in charge of Sony and/or the PS3's at the moment.

Yeah, you prove that every time you hit the reply button.

But seriously, I love how we're informed of damn-near every law suit. You guys do know that big companies like Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony have separate divisions devoted entirely to lawsuits and shit, right? It's impossible to be so successful without smaller individual companies coming after you claiming fame.

So.... they're not sure what patent Sony violated, but they're going to sue them anyone on the grounds that they probably violated something? Uh-huh. Makes perfect sense to me. -_-

Its basically a scheme trying to take money of the big company since it has a lot of money lying around.
