E3 2007: Nintendo Confirms Project H.A.M.M.E.R. 'Paused'

Soul79 | July 15, 2007 | News | Wii
It looks like instead of being canceled, Project H.A.M.M.E.R. has been paused. Hopefully They'll resume production in this game sometime in the near future.
Contradicting numerous news reports that the game had been canceled, Nintendo's Beth Llewellyn confirms that there is still hope for the Wii title.

In an exclusive AMN interview with Nintendo's Beth Llewellyn, senior director of public relations, we asked several questions regarding the validity of Project H.A.M.M.E.R.'s apparent cancellation due to numerous reports on the web. Below is our transcription from the actual interview, which will be going up later today:

AMN: Why are games like Disaster and Project H.A.M.M.E.R. not being shown?

Beth Llewellyn: We shifted development resources. However, Disaster: Day of Crisis is still in development and coming along nicely.

AMN: So is Project H.A.M.M.E.R. canceled?

Llewellyn: Development resources have been shifted for the time being, but it may come back. But right now, it's not a focus of ours.

Great news for me! This was the game that got me interested in the Wii. Granted, it probably won't get much light after Smash Bros. Brawl, but I still thought it looked awesome.

Who doesn't like controlling cyborgs with hammers for arms to fend off attacking aliens from the earth?

Even so, Llewellyn didn't sound to confident that the game would ever see the light of day. I really hope this game comes out, just to bring a new IP into the Nintendo fold.

Perhaps they are delaying the game a year or so to give more room to other action titles, such as Soul Caliber Legends or Dragon Blade.

This game was supposed to start Nintendo's next great franchise. Sad to see it was paused.

Hope this game doesn't get canceled and is brought back up, would be a shame if it never gets released as it seems really promising D:

Well it's good to see that they are not canceling it completely. My guess is as good as bbb's, waiting for other action titles releases and such. There are other games to keep me occuppied, so I won't lose sleep over it.

Glad that Disaster is still in the works, as I like the look of that game. I was never really bothered about Project H.A.M.M.E.R to be honest, but still glad to see that another fresh franchise isn't just being abandoned.
