700,000 Wii's sold in France

xsynergyx | July 02, 2007 | News | Wii
Reports say that about 700,000 Wii's have been sold in France alone. Recently, the Wii past the big 8 million mark, so you can see what a huge amount went to our Frenchmen. Sources say that this is due to people that have never bought a console before, head to the Wii and people around 35-40 are attracted to the fun system.
Some would argue, but Ninty is pretty much leading all over the world. Germany, UK, you name it. Looks like we have Nintendo revolutions over at France, too - reports say that 700,000 Wii units have been sold in France alone.

Just recently, Wii went past the 8 million mark. Considering that it's been selling strong since then, these numbers are still telling us that a really huge chunk of the consoles in existence went to our fellow French gamers' hands.

The source says that this is thanks to the Wii's appeal to people that never bought consoles before. Men and women of around 35-40 are said to be attracted to the simplicity of the machine. Sales are expected to boon come September when other Wii peripherals arrive.

That's great for Nintendo. Good to hear it's doing so well in one country, especially amongst people in the older age range.

    Go the French!! XD

Wow, the Nintendo Wii is selling good everywhere. Congrats to Nintendo. By the end of the year the Nintendo Wii will probably have sold over 10 million consoles.

I can see why people around 35-40 would want a Wii. They probably are more fun to them and also it would help keep them active. I think the younger generation around 16-25 would want a 360 or PS3 and then the real young would want a Wii again.

Im pretty sure they already have hit over 10 million worldwide. But honestly this doesn't surprise me. I mean this is coming from ppl who NEVER brought a system b4. Especial older folks, obviously there going to like the simplicity of it. People who have been playing games and buying systems from sega and SNES may lean towards xbox and ps3. Again i used "may"
But still its great for them nonetheless.

Wow, that's surprisingly high for France. I mean, France has such a wide-spread, less concentrated population with a lot of it being countryside, I would have though they'd sell a lot less than that.

    Not the French !!
Its nice to see that people of all ages are gaming these days. Perhaps now that older people play games, they'll stop bugging us about things in the gaming world and perhaps stop all this rubbish about banning games (( ... that's had a major boom in the past week or so ... ))

Frc: Oui! C'est bon pour le pays de la France. C'etait un chose tres important pour les joueurs des videos d'avoir un peut de la competition sante pour l'acheter. Vive la France!

Eng: Yes! That's great for the country of France. It's an important thing for the French gamers to have a bit of healthy competition for buying the console (similar to what we had here, maybe?). Long live France!

the future of gaming looks bright people.

Do you think it is possible the French were actually just tricked into buying it?

"Would you like a wii, madam?" The game clerk asks (in french of course)

and the customer replies, "A Wii?"

"Oui, you say? Tres Bien! Here's your Wii. Merci, Come again."
