EA now releasing games on Steam

PacoDG | December 20, 2008 | News | PC Playstation 2 Company
In kind of random news, EA will now be releasing some PC games via Steam. I am not sure why they never jumped on the very successful and profitable Steam train before, but I guess better late than never.
Just in time for the holidays, Valve announced that, Spore, Spore Creepy & Cute Parts Pack, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, Mass Effect, Need for Speed Undercover and EA SPORTS FIFA Manager 2009 are available now to gamers in North America via Steam, a leading platform for PC games and digital content with over 15 million accounts around the world.

In the coming weeks, Mirror's Edge, Command & Conquer Red Alert 3, and Dead Space will also be added to the catalog of EA's titles available via Steam.

Valve's online PC game distribution system. The service boasts hundreds of games and has game catalogues from the likes of Activision, Eidos, Epic, THQ, other various companies, and of course, Valve's own extensive collection. It also offers game integration with the Steam community, which adds IM-like functionality to a game playing interface.

STEAM has really improved over the 2007-2008 period. Its less buggy, with much more intruitive menus and a well organised friends list.

Not to mention cheaper games. EA joining this is fantastic news!
