There will no longer be Playstation Underground

Linkin Park Fan | November 20, 2008 | News | Playstation 3
What has been going on for a long time now is coming to a close. Playstation Underground has provided people with many things. From demo disc back in the PS2 era to beta codes for the lucky few. Now its coming to a close and it will be replaced with the ever growing Playstation Network.
Breaking news for all the Playstation fans: Playstation Underground is coming to an end, and when it does, your membership will expire. The Playstation Network (PSN) will take place of Playstation Underground. The PSN, as many of you know by now, gives you access to a growing population of enthusiastic gamers, friends and competition.

But...the last thing I gotten from them was Chains of Olympus Demo.

RIP Playstation Underground. I'm going to miss you.

You mean demo discs back to the PS1 era. I still have mine. I got my email out of nowhere the other day. Not sure why they're doing it..probably a business consolidation decision. Oh well, I like the community revision of playstation.com, Home is finally almost here, and I'm still on the GAP board.

When I got the email from them about this I hurried up and made a new Playstation Network account and then merged it with my underground one so I could keep my G.A.P. membership. The memories from the Underground were always a good one, sad to see it go.

In the email they sent me, they told me in order to keep my G.A.P. status I had to merge my Underground account with my Playstation Network ID account. Since I didn't have a PSN ID account (I don't have a PS3 or PSP yet, nor could I use them online anyways since I have dial up) yet, I had to make a PSN ID account and then merge it with my old underground one. After I merged they thanked me and said my G.A.P. status had been kept.

Oh I figured you had a PS3. You can make a PSN account without a PS3?

Yep. All anyone has to do is go here and they can make a PSN account. Good for anyone that wants to join that doesn't have any other way to make it.

You can, as explained above (after you posted this message). You need to tie the profile associated with your GAP, to a PSN ID.

I still have all my PSU demo disks from the PS2 era. I have about 10 or so of them....

If we don't have a PSU account, how can we create own so that it links to our PSN ID? I still want an oppurtinity for betas.

Not sure how long it will last since it's being phased out, but you can still currently sign up for an Underground account here. After you sign up, towards the top of the page by your new username should be a box that says "Link ID's now!" or something similar.
